He's Not My Daddy. He's My Boyfriend.
You won't find the term nymphetishist in The Allure of Nymphets much; however, it is heard in this film, which is about, Scott Wardman (Charles Bronson), a 38-year-old controversial novelist who married, Twinky, his 16-year-old love interest, to avoid being prosecuted for statutory rape; but, the writer regretted getting married after the nymphet wouldn't let him concentrate on completing his next novel. It's worth noting that Charles Bronson's character did a great job of not being needy. He let the nymphet take their relationship to the next level. For example, it was her idea to get married. He even used reverse psychology by saying, "It wouldn't last six months."

Twinky dink
TWINKY is also marketed under an aka of "Lola." Note that none of these small label DVD outfits has yet to produce a decent dub of this picture. After two previous films and a lengthy career directing episodes of such TV classics as GILLIGAN'S ISLAND and THE BANANA SPLITS, Richard Donner here helmed a top-flight cast in one of his now most forgotten works. In an Italian production filmed in Scotland, London and NYC, Bronson is a middle-aged American adult novelist romanced by a London teenager, a relationship that eventually brings them to the altar. Thus, after they got married in a fever, the fire went out and they've been talkin' 'bout Jackson. Though not exactly a Lee Hazlewood lyric, in the words of 10CC's " Don't Hang Up ," it's "marriage on the rocks" time. Here, the child-woman seduces the writer against his and her parents' better judgment. They wed, move to New York and soon the reality of two very different lives hits home. In an ironic twist, despite reservations about how a divorce might unbalance his young wife, SHE'S the one with " Leavin' on (her) Mind " (OK, no more song references!). After a chalkboard "tata!" from the flighty girl, it's back to Jolly Old for L-O-L-A (I lied, so sue me!).Leg men will love the many mini-skirts on display here, but as romantic comedies go this curio is very slight. (Watch for airport cameo from Mrs. Bronson, Jill Ireland.)Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 imdb viewer poll rating.(5.2) Twinky (Italy/UK-1970) - Charles Bronson/Susan George/Orson Bean/Honor Blackman/Paul Ford/Jack Hawkins/Trevor Howard/Lionel Jeffries/Kay Medford/Robert Morley

Twinky Tell Me True
There are a lot of candidates for worst Charles Bronson movie ever. Up till now, my choice was a toss-up between "The Sandpiper" and "Death Wish 5." But I had yet to see "Twinky"--also known as "Lola."First off, the quality of the print on this DVD is awful. The print is grainy, the colors are off (unless Susan George was wearing green tints in her hair), and the soundtrack is garbled in places. The packaging of the DVD is highly deceptive. The cover has a great photo of Charles Bronson that obviously doesn't come from the movie. In the photo he has a mustache, in the film he's clean-shaven. The DVD packaging says that it's "Digitally Mastered"--which might make you think they've cleaned up the print. But it seems that all's they've done is take a bad print and convert it to DVD format. The packaging also says that it has "Interactive Menus." I think what they mean by that is if you hit the "Play" button the movie starts. There's also a scene selection menu, but it only has eight screens. Not exactly convenient for skipping through parts of the movie.I could live with all of this if the movie were some sort of undiscovered gem. An obscurity in the filmographies of Charles Bronson and Richard Donner that's worth tracking down for any fans of those two giants. But it's not. It's a rather tawdry story of a 38-year old American writer of pornographic novels (Charles Bronson) who has a fling with a 16-year old British schoolgirl (Susan George). When the family finds out he becomes concerned that this could create legal problems for him--deportation or jail. He and the girl decide to go to Scotland, where the legal marriage age is 16, and get a quickie marriage. The writer and his new wife then move from London to New York, where they have a variety of problems. All of this could have been handled as a comedy (like "Manhattan"), as a drama (like "Baby Doll"), or as a satire (like "Lolita"). It tries to be a little bit of all of those things, and fails miserably on all fronts. As if all of this isn't bad enough, we also get Trevor Howard in a truly embarrassing performance as Lola's lecherous grandfather who has a thing for young school girls; Honor Blackman wasted as a Lola's mom; and no less than three cheesy songs on the soundtrack that play during montage sequences.Despite it all, Susan George manages to give an affecting performance as Lola (she's never referred to as "Twinky" in the movie, so I'm not sure where that title is coming from). I'm a Charles Bronson fan, but Susan George is really the only reason to watch this film.

A Bronson movie?
Sad. Woody Allen should have played this part. Bad casting. Not worthyof a Bronson film. Best part of the whole movie is his face on the front.

Rom com from 1969
It stars Susan George as a 16 year old schoolgirl who falls in love with 35 year old writer played by Charles Bronson. They relocate from London to a swanky NYC apartment. Unfortunately Charlie has a writer's block and it's not helped by Susan's childish antics. After all she was only a childI really enjoyed watching this film. It's definitely a curiosity

DVD film Twinky

A lost gem
Not the type of movie you expect to see Charles Bronson in, but it was actually a very good film, it was well worth the £5 I paid and keeps you watching to the end, I think this was Susan George's first or second film, and she's brilliant in it. Twinky is a film of it's time, it couldn't be made in todays permanently offended society. Recommended
