Quick readings and seems to be accurate.

Bought this to replace a digital thermometer that had died. Selected this one based on reviews and the long stem on it. We make ice cream occasionally and when cooking the custard my hand gets well steamed when monitoring temperature and this allowed me to get further away from the surface. This worked well for that and it is very easy to use with simple controls. I'm sure it would work great with BBQ, but haven't tried that as yet.

This might be a good thermometer, if it was quicker, and not so flimsy, and accurate. I got it because it had a longer than normal metal probe, which is the only good thing to say about it. It reads soooooo slow, but it seemed okay otherwise, so I wasn't going to bother returning it. Then I used it over Thanksgiving because I couldn't find my other thermometer, and the top part with the display kept popping off when I put any pressure on it at all, which caused me to burn myself and let steam get into it and fogged up the screen, making it very hard to read. It also reads about 5 degrees too low. I wish I had realized how terrible it was when I still had time to get a refund. Now it's a $17 reminder to thoroughly check your purchases before it's too late.

Instant? Only if an instant is, like, a minute or more standing in front of a hot oven letting all the heat escape as the numbers tick up one by one. It takes so long that I started to think I'd accidentally just ordered a digital thermometer, not an instant read one. Disappointing.

This has been spot on for every food item I've used it on. Chicken, salmon, and steak. Great buy. The holder it comes with is very convenient to use as well to keep it safe in a drawer.

Works great. This one has a longer "probe" than our last one which will be great for making sure that large items (turkey, ham) are cooked all the way through.

At first I thought it was good, but what they didn't tell me is it is not a quick read thermometer so it is almost useless. It takes forever to read the temp of meat.. so You burn You hand while holding it and waiting for it to finally reach it's max temp... don't buy it... I feel I have been cheated.
