I bought these to use as a base in my new planted aquarium. They worked perfectly!

Our hermit crab loves these
We wake up in the morning and our hermit crab has rearranged them, like she's redecorating the room. So I guess she likes them? Or maybe hates them? I haven't heard her complain about them yet!!

Make sure you boil them first
As little as these are, they still produce a lot of tannin. So if you just throw one piece in your tank, the water will turn brown. Boil first.

Yay!
My hermit crabs are still a little afraid of these new items in their tank, but they look great. Make sure you boil them before putting them in your tank.

Smallish
They were cheap and came in a timely manner and one of my crabs keeps dragging his favorite one around. One was broken into 3 chunks, which I use to prop stuff on. Having said that, they are too small to climb on.

Excellent for rhizome plants!!! Not so much for fish.
Update: after having these in my tank for a few weeks, I can honestly say that they can become a death trap to any kind of fish! Especially the larger sized cholla wood that I recieved in my batch. My large zebra danio (Tom) was stuck in one of them. Thank goodness I was able to get him out after desperately trying for 30 minutes. I wouldn’t have even noticed that he was missing but Jerry (my other zebra danio) was acting strange... swimming to the cholla wood and coming back up... frantically trying to tell me that his friend was in danger! If you are getting these for your tank that have any kind of fish, I highly recommend burying them halfway to close off the holes on each end. So glad Tom survived!Old review:I’m so glad I found these on amazon. I was searching for some driftwood that had holes/crevices good enough to have my Anubias nanas and java ferns attach to as they grow. My LFS was selling cholla wood for $6.99 a piece! Kind of a hefty price if you ask me. So, I decided to try these on amazon and feared that they wouldn’t be a nice as the ones at my LFS. My fear of getting broken, ugly driftwood immediately went away as soon as I opened the box. These are absolutely beautiful and small enough to fit my 6 gal fluval edge without it looking cramped but they’re big enough to let my plants grow on it with time without overcrowding my substrate. I am so happy with these. I did rinse then boil these beforehand. Draining the water every 30 mins then boiling again for a total boil time of 2 hours. I also let them soak to get waterlogged and release as much tannins for 7 days after that. These completely sank and sat perfectly on my substrate. If you’re looking for cholla driftwood, get these. For $8 for a pack of 3, you won’t be disappointed.Disclaimer: don’t mind my manzanita trees in my photos... my Christmas moss is getting acclimated to its new parameters.
