Settle for the Best!
I was looking at a Fluke and settled on this unit. I say "settle" but in reality this is easier to use and more comprehensive than a Fluke costing twice as much. The ability to map a network really quickly has saved me time on a couple of jobs where customer's didn't keep track of devices. The testing suite is both easy to use and comprehensive. The device seems relatively well built, looks like it can withstand a bit of abuse. Controls are easy to use and the screen is simple and bright. I do have a similar complaint to some reviewers that overusing icons can sometimes be a bit irritating when you have to go figure out what they mean. The menuing isn't perhaps setup the way I would (seems more setup to be visually appealing than to group things in any order that you might use them) -- than being said, it's a tool and it works well. Has let me figure out which jacks are working and not, what lines need to be fixed and where an issue might be.Has saved me gobs of time and in the end, that's what a tool should do.I've owned Flukes before and looked at a comparative Fluke model to this purchase (but more money / less features) and let me save you the time, T3 is pretty awesome.

Good Tool
Great tool for a cable or a network engineer like myself. This product beats the competition (flxxk) on price and features.Pros:all the features worksimple to useFast start up and test.standard batteriesCons:The network throughput test is useless. I cannot get over a couple mbit on a gig line that I know to preform at over 950Mbit with iperf. The LLDP and CDP information works but it takes a long time to get. I am not sure why it takes 15-60 seconds for this tool to get LLDP/CDP information. This info should come up instantly with a link light.overall this tool is a professional tool that in-spite of being a great tool still costs a lot for what it does. If you are in the market for one of these tools this one offers the most bang for the buck.

Does not report accurate Link Capacity
Plugged into a desktop switch you will get gigabit. Plugged into a Cisco enterprise switch it will only report 100mb.Contacted their main distributor and they said the hardware in the tester can only negotiate at 100mb but the software can detect link capacity to gigabit. However, since the Cisco switches will throttle down based on negotiation speed, the tester will only show 100 mb.This is not in the manual or listed anywhere on the site. Asked what can be done and was told to upgrade to the next model that is double the price.Tried contacting T3 directly, no response.Buy a fluke instead.

Really versitile test and measurement .
It is a great tool - wished I had bought one sooner .Only criticism is the operators guide . Even the extended version online lacks clarity . That said , just set up a small private network with some kind of DHCP server, and spend time to really learn how to navigate it .There are a lot of shortcuts .It started paying for itself the first day I got it by doing a quick POE verification , and I am using it a lot because it does so much . Worth every penny .

... and af course i needed to purchase a really good network tester
I am a Jr network Engineer ready to do my local jobs and af course i needed to purchase a really good network tester. The only brand that my old and experienced colleagues recommenced was the Fluke network testers. The problem was that even though Fluke is a well known brand ad make a really good equipment many if not all of them cost you an arm. I was bit frustrated because even though I got some money to invested in equipment did not want to spent more than $800. The cheapest Fluke tester that i wanted was $1000. So i decided to sit and start searching for a god and yet inexpensive tester. Then finally i came across with his guy. Its inexpensive compared with the Fluke, and very accurate, also very easy to use. The software is crappy but for the real world you rarely use it. It have been use it for more than year and have ot gotten any issues. Thanks for a great product that make my job easier.

Nice clear (color) screen, easy to use, easy to get results at a price point much less than the competition
Haven't had a chance to run this though all the paces. But from the few times I've used the NP700 it's performed well and provided the results I was looking for. Nice clear (color) screen, easy to use, easy to get results at a price point much less than the competition. The T3 employees are easy to get a hold of for questions and are a great bunch of people from my pre-sale questions to post-sale. Very satisfied with my purchase.
