Encyclopaedia Britannica Kids [8-Book Interactive Animal Library and Talking Pen Box Set]

I am a mom, and an educator, and I must say this was highly disappointing. Not only are the books thin paper, and poorly bound, most disappointing is the content. Each page contains a small passage about an animal, then 4 multiple choice questions follow. The problem is, the questions do NOT go with the content! The passage might state something about where the animal lives, then the questions go one to ask what they eat, how many babies they have, and about body features- none of which are discussed in the passage! The box sates it is preparing children for common core, which I guess can be held as a true statement since you must purely GUESS at the answer with vague to no information to base it on! It also states it reads the question aloud, which it does not. So, this leaves my son just randomly picking answers on the page to see the little pen light up! When I read the passage to him, then the questions, he will say " I don't know mom, where did it say?" Even at 5 he knows he should be able to go back and look for the answer- I guess you missed that lesson Encyclopedia Britannica!

The questions/answers have nothing to do with the information provided in the passages. There really isn’t even enough information to infer the correct answers. I would not recommend the product.
