Great Product
I ordered this as a replacement insert for my Emery Cat Scratcher. Since I did not buy from the Emery Cat website, I was worried that this would not fit the plastic base. However, the insert fit perfectly and my cat is now happy. Another positive is that I did not have to spend hours searching in pet stores, etc. I simply went to Amazon typed in what I wanted and the product was available. I did check some other websites prior to purchase and with Amazon Prime this was the best price.

nice product, i will buy more
my cat loves these things and she regularly demolishes hers so its nice to have replacements when the old ones get too shredded to work anymore. one thing..these DO NOT dull their nails as originally advertised, the original advertisement stated that it would wear down a cats claws so that they werent as sharp. if anything this makes them sharper!! what it does do it get rid of the burrs and snags on their nails so that they dont catch in anything like skin. now they cut you open like a scalpel. be sure to use the included catnip it does work, my cat rolls all over her board when she plays with it. she loves it!

My kitty loveees this thing!
I bought this thing at a discount store for super cheap the first time, and was excited to see it because we had just decided to make our Bobby an indoor cat. At first he didn't seem really interested in it, but after I sprinkled some of the catnip on it- he was ALL over it. At first his nail were way too sharp, but I had them cut down and this thing did a great job keeping them from getting too sharp again. I am too chicken to cut my cats nails, so this has been a real money saver for me! We moved recently and I forgot about this thing, but when I ordered a refill and set it out he RAN to it, he was so happy to see it back. This definitely won't keep you from EVER having to cut the cats nails down, but it does keep them from getting insanely sharp, and the catnip is a real treat for him. I've only had to buy 2 refills in a year and a half, for my one cat. Mine came with a little toy on it- that didn't last very long at all, but overall, this is a GREAT invention.

Emery Cat Board Refill
Since I had already purchased the Emery Cat Board I decided I would get the refill so I wouldn't have to throw the whole thing out. I have two cats and one of them will use it occasionally and the other one ignores it completely. If you already have the twenty dollar board then I guess buying the ten dollar refill is a good thing. This refill does seem to be lasting better than the original did. So, I might buy another when this one is used up.

My cats love it, but it does NOT trim their nails
I debated how many stars to give this product! I ended up with 4, not because it's not good enough for 5, but let me explain...My cats--I have five of them, all rescues, all indoors at all times--absolutely LOVE their Emery Cat scratching boards. I have two, and when I first bought them I placed them right next to the old scratching boards--the kind that are circular, with a ball in a track around the outside and a pressed cardboard scratching thing in the middle. My cats continued using the old ones, so I eventually put those away so they'd have to use the Emery scratching boards instead. I did that because two of my cats are feral, and although they're perfectly normal acting in terms of how they are around the house, how they interact with the other cats, etc., they will NOT let anyone near them. Therefore, it's impossible for me to clip their nails. After seeing the ads for Emery Cat I thought, "wow!, how brilliant!, it'll keep the cats' claws trimmed...problem solved!" Well, no, not exactly.Like I said, all of my cats love the Emery boards and use them all the time. But they do absolutely nothing in terms of trimming their nails. My three 'normal' cats (not the feral ones) have to have their nails clipped just as frequently as they ever did prior to switching to the Emery Cat boards. And, yes, they're definitely using them, so that's not the issue.Although this product doesn't do what its ads claim, I still recommend it because it keeps the cats from scratching the furniture. With five cats in the house, including two ferals, to have NO furniture damaged by scratching is a very, very good thing.UPDATE: I now have *SIX* indoor cats. Yep, another rescue. This one an adult male who'd been outdoors for...who knows how long. Like my other five, he loves this thing. It took him a few days to figure out that he has to STAND on it to prevent it from dragging toward him when he scratches it, but now that he has that solved he uses it with glee multiple times daily. :)

Did something change?
The original was shredded, shredded, and then shredded again before we finally decided to purchase a refill. It has been about three weeks and this new refill does not seem to get any love from either of our three cats, even when it is sprinkled with catnip. We'll see how it goes, but I really think that something must have changed in the construction of this product. If it wasn't sitting in a corner right now, all it would be is a tripping hazard to watch out for while walking through our condo.

Training cat to use a scratcher
I love this cat scratcher! I've been trying to train my cat, who is most docile by nature, to move onto the scratcher every morning when I arise and before she gets anything to eat. I ring the bell toy a couple of times and most often she comes over and uses it - sometimes just as a gesture, I believe, to pacify me (as smart as she is!) Anyway, I always tell her what a good girl she is and we repeat this every morning in the hope of a fully trained daily use. This is my 3rd refill and the catnip does seem to remind her to use it during the day as well. Hope the seller continues to supply refills since the whole shebang isn't necessary each time. This was a gr8 transaction and quick delivery. Thanks again and keep up the good work - both of you <grin!>
