This price gouging is disgusting. **Q: This question is directed to someone with pets: Do you find that the life of the filters are basically cut in half?** A: I've found that I can extend the life of the HEPA filter if I check the pre-filter (and clean it) more often. There is a fine screen in front of the activated-charcoal filter. I can vacuum the dust/cat hair off it (and sometimes I vacuum the carbon filter too). Keeping these filters clean seems to keep the HEPA filter from getting dirty as quickly. **Q: what does the ion button do? should it be on all the time?** A: It ionizes the air. We keep it on all the time. From an internet search... Air ionizers are used to remove particles from the air and purify the air of bacteria, dust, cigarette smoke, molds, soot, pollen, and household odours.
