As a string trimmer string, this stuff is pretty good, though I'll be honest, that's not really why I buy it.I'm using this for 3D printer filament, and it's amazing. I'm a little bummed because the price went up on this after the previous roll I bought, but I guess that's the way it goes sometimes.Pro tips for printing polyamide (nylon):Always dry the filament, and then always boil parts after they're created to strengthen them quickly and evenly. Water-infused filament = bad, water-infused part = good.Crank your heater up for this. You'll see recommended temps anywhere from 220-260 for nylons around the web, but I'd recommend much higher. Polyamide (nylon) has an incredibly high heat deflection temperature which means you have to deposit each layer crazy hot in order to keep the layer below hot enough to stick, or else you get garbage layer adhesion. Until I get a thermocouple, I'm limiting my temps to 285C, but I'd really like to be printing even hotter.

I have been using this stuff for 3d printing for years (3mm / 0.105"). No fillers. (I used glue stick for bed adhesion and add a 2 layer skirt to each model.) I had read the scare stories about fillers (usually in comments on Taulman youtube videos and web pages). But I noticed that Taulman had been using red filament (0.105" trimmer) in his early videos and others on youtube were having great success with nylon trimmer line (but with the intrinsic warping issue, of course). The authors of these other videos named two nylon trimmer line brands on Amazon. Maxpower and SuperTrim. I looked them up and called both manufacturers. Both said, it is really just Nylon 6. No fillers. Ever. One trimmer line manufacturer offered me a name of one of their customers in St. Louis, a guy involved in 3d filament production. With some hesitation, I asked if his name was Taulman. Yes. It is. Oh. Ok. Occasionally Amazon uses the wrong photo with the wrong color. Pay no attention to this.

So happy to find it. Atwoods hardware and Wall-mart didn't have any trimmer line. Atwoods said it would be spring before they had more.
