My ball fell out! Be sure the ends are tight.
We received this at Christmas, and have been playing with it since. It is now Feb. the twisting motion had always been loose, but I didn't think much of it. Then about two weeks the ends became so loose that the ball inside actually fell out. We lost the ball. I called the company (Spin Master) and they were very nice, and offered to replace it with a different model (orginal or Death Star) but said that they had never heard of the Twist perplxus. The customer service rep was named Lloyd. Since we already own both the Death Star & Epic Models, I declined. I thought it odd that they hadn't heard of the twist perplexus since it was clearly the same company -- but whatever. Lloyd was quite nice -- but in my opinion not very well informed of the company's products. He told me to call back in a week to see if they had received the twist product by then so he could send me a new one.We found the ball about a week later and used a triangle screwdriver to remove the end of the twisting handle. We replaced the ball inside the perplexus and after a bit of studying how it connected, we were able to align the insides up correctly and we screwed the ends tightly into place. My kids enjoy this toy a lot. We have 6 kids and own 6 perplexus balls.OrginalDeath Star (Star Wars)Twist (purple)Epic (blue)Rookie (yellow)Warp (orange)My kids range in age from 6-15 and it seems that one of them is always playing with one. Friends come over and can't put them down. They are a lot of fun. The purple one is our least favorite of the 6 -- but now that we tightened it, it works differently (I am thinking now it was loose when we received it) and the kids are enjoying it more. It does offer different challenges than the other ones, but it wouldn't be the first one I buy. Warp, Rookie, & Death Star are our favorites -- but different kids prefer different ones. So if you get this one -- just make sure the ends are tight -- and if they are not then get yourself a triangle screwdriver, remove the loose end completely, realign it according to the shapes on the inside circle, and then tighten it back up. Hope this helps someone!

Fascinating concept, but extremely frustrating
This is exactly as advertised: a "twist" on the original Perplexus maze globe idea. But it's frustrating and has a fair share of counterintuitive and/or deceptively difficult parts; I'd say don't buy this unless you (or your kid, geek friend etc.) are a diehard maze globe fan who has already played with and loved a few other similar puzzles. As you can see from the pictures, the shape of the maze consists of a bunch of arcing "branches" out from two poles. You navigate the maze by guiding the marble down increasingly difficult pathways to the tip of a branch, then twist the poles to align another branch so you can "hop" the marble over to it. This involves many moments where you're not quite sure where to go next, and some moments where you have to drop the marble down a free-fall into a small target area. It's fun in its own way, and a very different experience from the other Perplexus mazes, but I felt the challenges were a bit less well planned out than in the original immobile (admittedly MUCH easier to plan and control) Perplexus maze globes.I'm returning mine, not because there's anything wrong with it but because it's definitely not suitable for my child (or me) even though the other Perplexus mazes were.

New Perplexus frontier
We have all of the previous models of Perplexus. This new version isn't just a different maze, it actually twists, and that takes it to another level. We love Perplexus in our household (ages 41, 37, 10, 8, 4) and this toy just rocked our socks.

An Intriguing Twist on a Fantastic Game
The original perplexus is a thought provoking and fun innovation in puzzle mazes. It combines the skill of careful maneuvering with a creative maze design that keeps you guessing about where the next turn leads. Perplexus Twist takes the same concept yet adds a completely new dimension to the design. Half of the maze in attached to a spinning axle while the other half is stationary. This is not just more of the same but provides a distinctly new and refreshing experience from the original. While I would recommend beginners starting with the original perplexus, I would highly recommend this as a followup purchase.Things I like about this new version:1. Side ramps- While I appreciate a good challenge, sometimes perplexus can be very frustrating when you keep falling off and have to start all the way over. Twist has several side ramps that allow you to pick up close to where you fell off without having to start back from the beginning. While going all the way through without falling is a good challenge, sometimes you just want to move on to the next section without starting over. There were points that I would have just given up for a while if I had had to start over every time. This kept me playing the game longer in one sitting.2. New creative transitions- This is not just more of the same. The designers of the game have included several new, surprising and challenging obstacles that keep the game fresh and interesting.3. Exploration- For the most part you knew where you needed to go in the original game (there were a few places you had to search but because the numbers where physically connected in sequential order it didn't take to long to find the next). In twist you have to look a lot harder to find where to go next. Twisting the maze round and round and exploring the maze trying to find the next obstacle is an integral part of the game. Conclusion: This is a great game/puzzle/toy for all ages. It is different enough to be worth a separate purchase from the others already on the market. This is fun and engaging. If you are on the fence about buying this, stop reading this review and put it in your shopping cart.
