It doesn't come up high enough to protect the screen. We often set our phones screen side down so we're not bothered with notifications or if we're with other people and want to keep our notifications private. My phone probably spends 95% of it's life screen side down when I am not using it. When this case is on and we put the phone screen side down, the glass touches the surface.
