The Sociology Book: Big Ideas Simply Explained (DK Big Ideas) Hardcover – July 7, 2015

I really like this series of books. They explain things in an easy style, are interesting, and are well made. I buy one of them every several months and several of my friends have borrowed some of them to read. Very interesting and can be read for 15 minutes or 3 hours at a time!

This textbook arrived promptly and was in good condition. The corner was damaged slightly in transit, but this did not affect the quality of the product.

Amazing Book.

Good book for grasping basic ideas and theories. The format is easy to follow and encourages more in-depth analysis. Very good to have on hand for quick references.

It's a great introductory, it has a lot of important people, main points and terminology that you can further research. The ideas are simplified but not like over simplified so that it's easier to grasp and later search and explore more about. I also like it's sleek, simple design and visuals.

Conspiracies of social control are prevalent on the internet with little peer reviewed sources. This Sociology Book breaks down various theories into a scientific explanation as to why societies behave the way they do. Underneath the propagated surface of American Consumerism lies a dirty underbelly of oppressed minority and even to include the vast majority in various degrees. By recognizing these issues the educated population can come to make informed decisions on social change.Be that as it may depending on social class and ideology your agenda may be opposed by the hierarchy of social and religious ideas. This book is an excellent text that when paired with philosophy, psychology, and economics sheds further light on the rules of the “system” and what power you have to change it.

Any textbook dealing on a specific subject matter in a easy to read and follow format get 5 stars. As a sociologist and professor, it is really tough getting students to read there textbooks. Many find them boring or 'dry', which I tend to agree with them for some. This book provides great insight into theories, sociologists, and concepts in an easy to follow format. However it could never replace an Introduction to Sociology college textbook because it does not cover everything. It is an overview.

We got our son all the books from this line - Sociology, psychology, economics, history, and philosophy. They are great and easy to follow with lots of graphs and pictures. Our son is a freshman in high school and has no problem following the chapters. Great for reference as well!

El libro es genial, no tengo ninguna queja del mismo. Maneja temas complejos de forma muy accesible. Lo que no me gustó fue la entrega pues venia un poco doblado de la esquina inferior izquierda, de la parte de atrás del lomo. Pero bueno, lo dejé pasar porque lo compré a un muy buen precio.

Worth every cent you pay

This series released by DK is something amazing! I previously got a psychology book from the same publishing company and already finished it and now started the sociology book. Its for the beginners, someone who doesnt want to go through complicated language but to understand the main ideas, roots and read the ideology of the main figures in this or that filed.The delivery was SUPER fast

it's just such a nice read. the graphics, illustrations, fonts, etc., all the aesthetic components are just as good as the theoretical knowledge inside the book. from the perspective of a high-schooler like me, this book is really engaging and illumnating.caveat: this book isn't and doesn't claim to be some sort of exhaustive, authoritative documentation of all the various paradigms, personalities, theories, etc., (even though it touches on most of them) under sociology. it's a pretty effective and engaging primer—an introduction to the vast discipline of sociology and i think it's a very good one at that.pick it up if socio's your thing; it certainly is mine!(little complaint: it's little too pricey.)

Ha llegado a tiempo, como es en inglés, viene bien para mis clases bilingües de filosofía, psicología. Son muy buenos libros en general y muy amenos de leer. Recomendables para todos,desde adolescentes a mayores.
