2019 Review: Trivision 1080p Security Cam. Fantastic quality, and features!
I have owned the previous Sharx cameras, and last year bought the upgraded SCNC2924 model with a larger imager. The Trivision model is equivalent to this newer model with firmware with more features than the orginal Sharx. The video and pictures are fantastic. The firmware allows higher quality videos as the bit rate options are increased. The audio also has more choices for higher bitrates of audio. For cloud storage, you not only have dropbox or FTP to your own server, but they have added Google Drive as a new option. Many Security cameras force you to store your video on their servers, which can cost $10 to $20 a month. If you use dropbox, google drive, or your own server, it is free. So you are saving hundreds a year. The software allows you to send email alerts, and you can send text alerts if you send the text via the carriers email address for your phone number. You also have the option to store video and pics on the internal micro SD card, or a NAS drive. The software is extremely comprehensive and well thought out.The Trivision camera can see in total darkness, as it has Infrared LED lights, allowing you to see intrusions in the dark. You can set the video to pre-roll, so you get the action before the motion sensor was triggered. Sound is ok, but not great, although they just added better quality sound options in the firmware, so will be testing that. This camera will work wirelessly or you can hook up an ethernet cable directly to your router. This model also support POE, power over ethernet, so the ethernet cable can supply the power, so you don't need the power adapter. For the price, this is a great little camera and I highly recommend it.**Note: A lot of the reviews on this product are from the older Sharx model that had the smaller imaging sensor. So only look at the Trivision reviews since late 2018.

Good set of networking and management features, OK image
Update June 25. Having used the cam now for a few weeks, I wanted to share my impressions beyond the initial review below. The networking and access options for the camera are great - I've been using it either over local wifi or the interned constantly: to view and to download images and video remotely. Having SD is great, would not buy a cam without one again (though access to NAS can be a substitute). The cam has very strong barrel distortion - not visible in my video sample here, but it is bad. Not a big deal, other than setting up motion detection square zones on a very curved horizon somewhat limits you - you have to either ignore the corners or part of the center in the motion detection zone. The corners of the image are also darker than the center - vignetting. The day/night sensor is away from the lens, which is a bit of an issue for me - I have the cam mounted behind some objects so that only the lens is visible from the outside; this blocks light to the light sensor, so my cam wants to be in night mode even during the day. The mounting bracket is too close to the camera and can't tilt the cam down enough if the bracket is mounted under the camera - have to mount the bracket over the camera if the camera is to point down to more than perhaps 20 degrees. The motion detection image email feature could be better - the cam emails one image at a time, where I would much prefer to get the whole set in a single email (my DLink does that, giving me say 6 images at 1fps in a single email rather than 6 individual emails). The cam has worked reliably so far and the images are detailed enough even in infrared mode to be useful. Shutter speed is too low in night mode, however, so moving objects at night, even with very strong IR external illuminator, are rather blurred (i.e., faces of people passing by at night are blurred, while stationary objects like grass and leaves are sharp). The dynamic range of the images is not too high - some cams have the so called "wide dynamic range" capability, which brings details out of darker shadowy areas while preserving the highlights in bright areas. This Sharx instead has a rather contrasty image, with details in bright or dark areas lost in high contrast situations. There is no control for brightness, contrast, and color (other than black and white on/off option), which is regrettable given that the cam does not handle high-contrast situations well. Still, happy with it as it works reliably and the images are usefully detailed and accessible remotely. It has allowed me to constantly monitor a problem area where water has been dumped on my property by my neighbors and the recorded footage has helped in documenting the issue - I would not have been able to so reliably videotape the water flow manually as it happens during rains day and night (got to sleep and work tool not just deal with inconsiderate neighbors)...Original Review followsThis is the fourth IP security camera I tried this year, and it is by far the best in this class of cameras! Setup was easy, best of all, the camera can be viewed over the Internet without any special software on most platforms.Image quality is good and low light performance and configuration options are excellent. I also have a D-Link 5020L and (ignoring the difference in resolution) there is no comparison in terms of night tome quality. The Sharx gives me a very bright and clear black and white full resolution image with dim street lights and lights from my neighbor's houses. D-Link gives absolutely useless black picture with just a couple of bright spots near the lights - all of the yard is black. This is because the Sharx allows you to configure the IR illumination, filtering, night mode, and color individually. So, just turn off the IR illuminator, set the rest to auto, and it enters a night mode in black and white, which is very bright and clear to view. The motion detection works well, though I prefer the setup on the D-Link, which consists of a grid with relatively small squares that can be turned on or off individually. Sharx has several windows that have to be resized. The ability to record on an SD card, then view and download (or erase) full res pics and movies over the Internet from anywhere is great. It can also save to NAS, FTP, etc.Video quality in daylight is good enough. Not as good as my high-end smart phone's video in terms of resolution. Video recorded to the SD card is choppy at about 2Mb per second and 7 frames per second (fps) for some reason, even though I have specified 4Mb and 15fps in the settings for the primary stream. I don't see an option to specify the quality of the recorded video. Video recorded over WiFi on my local network is the same 2Mb/s and 7fps... See the sample I uploaded with this review. The lens is sharp end to end and focuses from about 3 feet to infinity (no auto or manual focusing is available - it is always in focus). The angle of view is probably about 80 degrees. The IR illumination seems to be good for at least 30 feet, though it is a bit brighter in front of the camera than in the corners.Several streams are available for viewing. My Windows Phone does not like the video format (Apple QuickTime) but I can view a full res image from one of the streams or use the automatically refreshed mobile image stream that sends me a new small image every couple of seconds. Android and iPhone work without any software - just point and view. The user manual is printed, very detailed, accurate, and well written (in good english, by a native speaker). If anything, there is too much to read and too few pictures and screen shots, but better that than not enough. The cam appears well built and so is the stand and adjustable arm, though I think a simpler arm may work better - mine seems to have a ball that is a bit lose in some directions while too stiff in others.I just got and setup the cam, so this is just a first impressions review. Hopefully, the cam will also prove to be stable and last a while...The cam is a bit costlier than others with similarly stated specs, but this one actually works! Solid 5 Stars, because it is so much better than the competition.

Great IP camera
This is my fourth TriVision camera. Exceptional image quality. Easy installation (all Mac system). The one time I had to contact Customer Service, response was fast and problem solved. Two of these cameras are about 130 feet from the front of my house. Wi-Fi was adequate, but some jitter on viewing. I installed a TP-Link Long Range Outdoor Wifi Transmitter to the outside of my garage. Now have a solid 5 bars on Wi-Fi, in fact I have 3 bars over a half mile out in the lake. Now absolutely no lag or jitter on video from those cameras. One of the cameras is mounted inside a glass front bird feeder in a tree. I know it says its not an outside camera, but has operated flawlessly for over two years now with temperature as low as -4 degrees and has high as 102.

Works well. Dependable.
I have 4 of these now, 2 of which are 2-3 years old. They work well and were relatively easy to set up. On line support is fantastic and quick but limited to email, which I ultimately come to value more than phone support. Thi gs do get a little more involved when one attempts to set up motion detection alerts via email and text, both of which I have and have proven reliable. I followed the instructions in the manual, which is quite thorough and relatively easy to understand. A decent understanding of computers, modems and routers is a great help when setting up, especially for the alert aspects, however, the Sharx support staff is quit helpful. A negative aspect of these cameras, as with any passive IR camera, is the inability to operate through glass in night mode. The IR just causes too much reflected light. other than that, I really like these cameras. If you want motion sensor alerts without paying for a security contract, this is an alternative. So far, I have had zero problems with these cameras doing a successful reboot after power a outage, but have recently connected them all to a UPS as a safeguard against extended outages.
