This dual purpose cracker is perfect for my needs- I live on the water where I can pull up crabs all summer and I have 4 pecan trees!This cracker is different than the old school ones (first and second picture) I have because of the little point part- It helps me "Crack" the center of the nuts to allow me to then remove the shell and leave the nut meat intact without shattering it making the meat a crumbled mess.For crabs and store bought crab legs there is a smaller area near the hinge which cracks the "legs" perfectly and the point helps get the body just in the right area!The handle has a rubberized non slip grippers to help prevent flying crackers from all the melted butter or with those really hard pecan shells!This heavy duty cracker is dishwasher safe, zinc alloy with a great chrome finish- also has a lifetime guarantee!I had the opportunity to purchase this product at a discounted cost for testing, inspecting and reviewing. It works fine. Two places to crack from, depending on the size of your nuts. I expected it to be sturdier and tighter. It's very light weight and the hinge seems just a tad on the flimsy side. It doesn't feel so bad that it's going to break, it feels like it will hold up to normal use. I figure it's worth the $15.

This is my first review ever on Amazon...I'd rather not say much and appreciate others' reviews on so many of the Amazon products that I buy. However, I feel compelled to write on this product based on the pictures that justify it enough. I bought it because everyone gave it five stars, however the one I received had lumpy metallic texture on the alloy zinc. It's definitely not a smooth metal like a stainless steel. I only opened this nutcracker and have not even used it because of the poor quality of the metal. I am returning it and I had just bought the OXO nutcracker. Hope this helps others and please enjoy your seafood/nuts cracked!!!

Solid construction and good coverage. Only fault - arms could be a bit longer and grips a bit wider. Otherwise, I had some walnuts. Now, they're gone.

Great crackers. They arrived as promised and are very sturdy. I just used them to crack two very hard shell lobsters and I had no problems. I had purchased a cheap (very cheap) nut cracker about a couple of years ago and they did not work at all on the hard shell lobsters so I purchased this cracker and it worked awesome! Love it and would recommend it!

the plastic is cheap, smelled a little but eventually it stopped. the cracker works well enough, but it's very light, it's hollow, and it's just not that great quality. there are better ones for the price
