Ambient Fire: Ultimate Video Fireplace

I really liked Ambient Fire a lot actually, depending on your setup, this review may differ from your own review. Ambient Fire was played on the PS3 via HDMI and Optical Audio into a Sony 5.1 receiver and a 57inch Sony Rear Projection 1080i HD tv.Ambient Fire has lots of fireplaces to chose from, just logs, marble fireplace, modern, just flames, holiday, outdoor firepit and a couple more. So I bet you will find your favorite fireplace that you like.All of these recordings of these different kind of fireplaces are shot in HD, so what ever fireplace you pick will be in nice quality, however, I could spot out some artifacts, but I wouldn't worry about them because you can hardly notice them with an un-trained eye.When you play a fireplace, it will burn for around 90 minutes and you can see the logs go down and the fire get slow and dark as it was going out and then just starts all over. with playlists, you can have it go on to another fireplace and then go back to this one if you want or what ever way you want.-The Sound-The sound is presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and it sure does sound fantastic. There is plenty of bass and awesome highs and great mids. However, natural fireplace sounds are not normally surround sound, so it totally sounds better in a 2.1 format. Though, the outdoor fireplace is absolutely amazing in 5.1, you can hear owls, crickets, frogs, bugs flying around, crows and it just so cool and makes you feel like you want to make s'mores!There is music that you play with out the fire sounds or have them mixed. The music I find are pretty good, you got classical, holiday and relax music and I think they are all good. I really liked the classical and the relax the best.All in all, it's a great fireplace video and I highly recommend this if you only have a DVD player.

I wanted to buy a fireplace dvd to have for the holidays. I searched through alot of different dvds with many different reviews. None seemed to have all good reviews, so I chose this one based on the music. (You can choose from Classical, Jazz, Christmas music, fire sounds or a combination of fire sounds and music) I am extremely pleased with it. The music is very nice, the fire noise sounds real and is very relaxing. There are eight different fires and a scene with pretty candles on a turning table to choose from. They have a fireplace with Christmas decorations around it, a fancy marble fireplace, a brick one, a stone one, and a couple others. They also have a campfire, which I like. When you listen to the fire sounds on this track (different fire sounds for each fireplace) you can hear the wind, crickets, an owl, and even frogs in the background. It is very realistic sounding. The only thing I don't like is the track that is just flames (no fireplace). They are so big on my screen that I feel like the wall is on fire. Other than that, this is a great dvd. Good quality picture and well worth the price. I highly recommend it.

Our big screen TV has been resting on the fireplace hearth for the last 2 years while I pick away at a basement media room. The wife has been pretty understanding about it, but really lamented losing the fireplace. Since I purchased this for her for Christmas, I've gained myself some extra breathing room for getting the project done.The various fireplace viewing options range from classics (holiday themed, campfire, normal fire) to what can only be described as psychedelic. Nice "fire sounds" of crackling and popping can be chosen by themselves or mixed with music (or no sounds at all). The music tracks though leave something to be desired, and of course don't run very long before looping. Chances are you'll listen to them a couple of times before just using the fire sounds and your stereo for tunes.HD is a misnomer. This isn't blue ray or HD-DVD, but it is shot very cleanly and looks great on my 61" TV with upconverting DVD player.So if you have no fireplace, or your tech has taken over the fireplace, this is a great option.

It is everything I was looking for. Love the choices and the quality of the recorded fires, The outdoor fire is particularly enjoyable and very relaxing at the end of the day to help us all wind down.

After many years of a wood burning fireplace, then converting to gas logs, this is the way to go. In building a new house, I designed a mantle and bought a black metal screen -- the kind that slides along a rod. In the "firebox", sits a 46" flat screen television. With a black frame of the set, and black marble around it, and fire screen closed --- it looks like a fire. It crackles like wood and produces "0" ashes. Gas logs don't make a sound, except for the spinning of your gas meter. This product only works as a back up heat source if you have an automatic start generator --- then it is perfect.

It's hard to rate this video, because really it's what you ask for-- a fireplace on video. However I was hoping for a higher quality video, not something that looks like it was shot with some regular home video camera. Despite that, the fire sounds are great and the "Max Relax" music is very soothing and I actually fell asleep listening to it! The "Yultide" music is ok, but I played my own music during our Christmas party. Overall it's a good video, despite the quality of the footage itself.

Like many customers here, I'm a research hound. After the NYTimes reviewed fireplace DVDs, I became curious and went through the reviews here on Amazon.This DVD was among the best-rated on Amazon and NYT's recommendation. It is also mine (without having bought or watched others).When - in an unusual cool winter in Florida and capped chimney in our house - you have the DVD running and keep thinking at times that the living room should warm up now because of the fire, you know your brain has been fooled. In this case, a good thing. It won't replace the sensory experiences of a real fireplace, but it will come very close, for very little money.
