I love it.
I didn't get this for the health/testing aspect, but rather to minimize litter waste, and it's done a great job of that! One of my older cats (age 19) now lives in our bedroom, so we had to put a litter box up there for her, and put it in our walk-in closet. Dealing with clumping clay, which I don't mind in the basement, was just gross near our clothes, and we did not appreciate walking through the tracked litter in our bare feet, so I was looking for an alternative. I'd tried a few other things, then read about this & decided to give it a try, and am happy I did.I did have to transition - I taped a piece of cardboard over the slotted bottom and put in some used clay & silica crystal litter, adding in Yesterday's News (paper pellets) that I had lying around as the other was pulled out with cleaning - getting her used to using the box, and at the same time an increasingly pelleted texture. Eventually I dumped all that, pulled out the cardboard, switched cold turkey to the safflower seeds, and she continued to use the box without objection. When I did put the seeds in, I found it worked best to put in both of the bags that came with this "value pak," not just one as they suggest. With just one it appeared the box bottom felt bouncy as the cat walked across it because of the slatted bottom - with both bags the litter spread the weight. (I read this comment somewhere else and found it to be true.)It tracks some - the seeds are quite light - but they don't hurt underfoot, stay intact - don't grind into a powder - and don't stick to other things (like *my* feet). Plus since they're generally not absorbent, and the ones on the surface of the box are quite dry, they don't seem gross at all on the floor. I pick them up and drop them back in, or sweep & dump them.I did have to build up the sides a bit, but that's my cat's issue - she steps in but doesn't turn around so she peed either just inside or just outside the door. I built feet for the corners of the walls to sit on, and put a step outside to help her get in, and once the doorway was high enough it kept everything inside. Now that everything's set, it's working great!I pull out the drawer morning and night and dump it - she's old, her kidneys aren't working at peak efficiency (more water in, more water out), so I don't want to take the chance that the drawer will fill up, but once a day would probably be fine. I have to carry it the length of my upstairs hall to dump it in the bathroom, and the lid keeps it from spilling. I think that probably also keeps the odor in the drawer, because I never smell anything (but then she's not very smelly in that department, not like my old guy).I scoop & flush the poop, no problem. Yes, you smell it right after she goes, but she never covered anyway so that's no different than before. The seeds do take in a little urine - they don't seem to get smelly but some turn black. When I empty the drawer I grab the scoop and give it all a rake to mix anything wet up from the bottom so it can dry, but I don't think that's necessary. I had the original seeds in there for some weeks (3??), and just last week replaced them with about 8 pounds from the pet store. The new ones are smaller, but still seem to work fine. Since I'm cheap, and the old ones still weren't smelly or anything, I rinsed them in a bucket of bleach water, drained them and dried them on trays in a warm oven, and put them away in a bucket for reuse.I LOVE that I'm not throwing away pounds of litter every week. I love that I don't have gross clumps of clay sitting around waiting for trash day. I love that there is no clay or silica on my floor waiting to be ground to hard-to-clean powder by my feet (yuck!).I considered the Breeze system but quickly decided that (1) my cats, who have never been happy with a pelleted litter, were unlikely to take to the heavier pellets of that system, and (2) a drawer that could be dumped, rinsed, and reused was way greener than using and throwing away pads one or more times a week (and cheaper, too!). If your cats don't mind pellets, I should think the Breeze pellets likely to work in this system and they would be more completely non-absorbent than the safflower seeds, and being heavier wouldn't track out. But this is working for me.

Don't hesitate! This is truly the best litter box I have used so far and trust me I have use them all!
Honestly – there are no words describe how amazing this litter box is! When I first received the box, the bag of safflower seed was open and a little bit spilled into the litter box. My kitty, ever curious was next to me when I opened up the box and just walked right into it with just a handful of seeds and urinated in the box! I was so astonished and hopeful that the little reservoir didn't have a lid over it because I was still setting the box up. I was lucky – it was in the right place and all was well. She took to the box right away! Right now I have the box in the living room and there's absolutely no smell of urine at all. I periodically check the seeds with a tissue just to see if they are saturated and they are not even damp. Well done! I hope inventor received an award for the design and use.

system literally stinks!!!!
I have had cats with litter boxes for forty years. As many as five cats at one time. Being slightly handicapped, I needed something light and "easy" to use. I have used the Breeze system for the last eight years and loved it...only had one box with five cats that's how good it was!! Always used two of the scooper kinds prior to the breeze. The pellets were heavy for me to handle when I purhased them or had them delivered by amazon or wherever.OK now for this set up. Bag of seeds was split open upon delivery. Lucky for me they were in the box when I realized what the rattle was. Called company directly and woman asked me what I meant by bag split: zip lock didn't hold. What did I mean by they were all over: the bag spilled all over the delivery box. Oh OK so you were still able to use the seeds. Duh!? What do you want me to do about this since we have been selling the seeds like that for ten years and you're the only one who ever complained. I was so speechless I just said thanks a lot and hung up.Set up was easy. Cat liked it fine. Loved that I didn't have poopy odor from my waste basket since says able to flush down. By the way make sure you flush twice as my line clogged up within three days.If you let urine tray get too full it will spill out over the pour spout corner if you don't pull it straight out. I was recovering from surgery so got a little lax in emptying it. Thank goodness I put a pee pad under it since system was new and didn't know what I was in for.Now comes the smell. Ugh!!! The urine dries on the middle tray and stinks!!! I thought it goes straight down to catch tray...nope!! Stupid me!! Tried vinegar rinse in shower with hot water and shower hose. Now the room smells like a birdcage with wet seeds. Another big safety tip...Urine and bleach don't mix and can hurt you with the fumes no matter how little you use!! That's s why I used the vinegar which disinfects and helps control cat pee smell. I used it on my Breeze set up all the time. I wiped the tray with a paper towel dampened with vinegar even with pellets in it. That was in between complete change for which I washed it with vinegar sprayed on it. Dries fast and safe for cats.Bottom line....my check comes in two weeks, this goes in garbage and I order the Breeze back again... Well the other way around!!
