Tek Republic TUH-3400 Aluminum USB 3.0 4 Port Hub with 3A Power Adapter

My second one! Works great on my Mac Mini. Now I've bought one for my PC laptop.

It worked as advertised with a great design. I got this for my surface tablet to expand the devices I could use at the same time instead buying a $200 bucks Microsoft surface docking station. Great alternative choice and it is so much cheaper!!

It came very rough looking so i docked it a couple stars. I think the screws were rusted!!! seriously not great shape, but operates as advertized (A USB Hub) haven't checked the speed yet so I can't comment on that.

Works well, however it came with some scratches and cheap finish. Like the Ultra Aluminus better.

The  TUH-3400 Aluminum USB 3.0 4 Port Hub  by Tek Republic is quite tiny! It's slightly smaller than the size of a credit card and incredibly thin at 0.83 inch. Ultra-portable for keeping in a notebook bag or backpack, the uses for this hub are endless.Installation couldn't be simpler, no drivers needed since the hub is truly plug-and-play. This unit has a very nice design and casing. The aluminum case and rich red glow of the logo give the hub character and make it easy to see and enjoy. The 4 (four) USB ports are spaced out over three sides giving you plenty of space between the ports for various size adapters to fit. An awesome feature of this hub is that is can and does function without the power supply. I have owned hubs in the past that were no good without external power and it's great to have that option if I need it but not to be dependent on a wall outlet to use the hub.During my test of the TUH-3400, I connected the hub with one (1) USB 3.0 hard drive, one (1) USB 2.0 Hard drive, and two (2) USB 2.0 flash drives. I performed a stress benchmark using CrystalDiscMark having all devices attached to test if the hub would slow down any of the devices when it was fully loaded. Worked for several years on mission-critical USB3 devices. Other hubs it would disconnect or time out, rendering my MBP 15 2015 model in a frozen mode (mouse would disappear). This one seems to be holding up very well in home and mobile road situation where I'm running an inverter fr 12V AGM batteries. Copied massive 4K video data from 4-8 Tb ext. hdds. It's error free! Quite amazing. If you need a reliable data hub, this is it. Ambient car temp was approaching about 100-105 F and it's still OK too. Also in 20-40 F and it's still going. Planning to get the 7-port/5A model soon.

I was provided a Tek Republic TUH-3400 Aluminum USB 3.0 4-Port Hub with 3A Power Adapter for testing and review and was asked only to give my honest review, so this is what I found.What You Should Know Before You Buy:♦ It has 4 high speed USB 3.0 ports, giving you 3 more USB 3.0 ports available on your computer.♦ Simple Plug-and-Play installation with no separate driver installation required.♦ High speed, reliable transfer speeds. More than 100MB/s Read and Write to a Hard Drive in a Docking Station.♦ Has a high powered 3 Amp Power Adapter that allowed for charging multiple devices and power banks at the same time.♦ On Bus power will charge an iPhone 5 when plugged in by itself, but not with other devices plugged in.♦ Bright Red lighted name and multiple numbered LEDs on the top of the device are a little distracting.Detailed Review:♦ Look - The product came in a professional looking box with product information on it. Inside the box was the USB hub, a USB 3.0 cable, a 3A power supply and a small spec sheet. It has 4 USB 3.0 ports around the sides of the nice aluminum frame. On the top of the hub it has the Tek Republic name lighted in red and four numbered LEDs indicating which ports are in use. The bright lights and colors are a little distracting, but that is a personal preference. It is fairly small and compact hub with a nice aluminum finish looks to have a nice, solid build.♦ Use and Performance - Installation was plug-and-play with no manual driver installation required. I plugged in four different USB devices including a USB 3.0 hard drive docking station, an iPhone 5, a power bank and an iPod Nano. The USB 3.0 speeds were great on all ports. All ports were also backwards compatible with all USB 2.0 peripherals that I had. Transfer speeds were fast for everything I tried. I used benchmarking software to test out a 2TB hard drive in a USB 3.0 docking station and I saw better than 100MB/s Read and Write speeds, while at the same time synching my iPhone 5. The hub can be bus powered, so it will charge my iPhone 5 when it is plugged in by itself, but will stop charging when another device is connected. When using the 3A power supply, the hub will charge all devices, including a power bank, simultaneously.Conclusion:Overall, this is a good USB hub for increasing the number of USB 3.0 ports you have available on your computer. It has a nice aluminum finish that looks solid, but the bright lights on it can be a little distracting. As far as performance goes, the hub works well and has a lot of charging power with the 3A power supply. If you are looking for an aluminum hub that can power multiple devices, this one is worth consideration.
