I hit the joint of the blade and handle with one drop of premium gun lube, then used a micro driver to loosen the single blade holder maybe an eighth of an inch. Worked the knife manually in and out of the grip about a hundred times while watching TV. I now can merely flip my wrist to have the blade flying out and locking in position. When it is closed it is firmly closed. I did notice that the steel appears quite good when I used my Lansky hone on it. Absolutely nothing wrong that I could find. You just need to know how to adjust it for YOU. Be careful with the sharp blade, especially if you worked on it correctly. Not a toy. This is a tool and should be used as that. Great buy.

Product is good, however it's a lot larger than described. I had to return, this is not a good every day pocket knife at all.

The Patriot is certainly a high quality knife; great materials, refined manufacturing, and good balance. That said, I've been using it as my daily carry for about a month now, and I still find it to be a little stiff opening. I have not tried anything to alleviate this issue, such as lubricating or loosening the frame, as I want to see if the knife will come into better performance on it's own; it seems to get better with use. The knife arrived extremely well-sharpened and is maintaining that edge quite well. It is somewhat bulkier and weightier than I had expected. I had planned to remove the pocket clip and carry within my pocket, but the overall size influenced my decision and I am using the pocket clip. After adjusting the clip for a little looser grip, I'm finding it easy to use and actually prefer this carry to digging it out of my pocket. I would have preferred a knife with a partially serrated blade, but didn't find that option with this knife, and so far, I have not missed the lack of serration. It is always somewhat awkward getting accustomed to a new/different tool, but I've found this knife to be very ergonomic, very comfortable to hold. If possible to update this review, I will do so after another month or so of use, if the knife does indeed become the quick, easy-open instrument I'm hoping it will.

Very sharp. Feels solid and well made. The thumb assist is not so light that it will open inadvertently if snagged, or so heavy that it's a problem to open when you want it to. No problems with pocket carry. I agree with some other posts indicating that it's a general purpose carry knife, and a good one. Much better than I expected for the price.

To be said this is the Best folding knife on Amazon, Says Who? Because I am let down...Four little changie things, would make it the Best, because I Love the feel and light weight... But, If it was, spring assisted,,,(Open Fast), had an easy finger grab opener, ( I ground mine down so it was easier and faster),,, plus, If it was partly serrated, for ripping, and was a little easier to rip from my pocket, because it grabs some pockets too well, and is hard to get out, (Quickly)..... Yes, if it was slightly improved,,, It would damn well be the Best, and I would buy some for my Friends... And Maybe, , , You would too... Aloha, DJ... I would Love to be a tester, because being a Handyman, We are always fixing things and also modifying them to Improve them and make them more Efficient, And Less Frustrating...

I have used this style of knife for years, but this one is terribly hard to open with one hand and MUCH worse to close. I need a one handed knife and would NOT have ordered this one if I had known how hard it is to work. Worst I have ever seen and I've had a dozen or more.

I am not a knife guy either and after some research this one was suggested on Knifeden.com so I ordered it. Get feel, build and sharp blade. It is a great value and I could not be more pleased.

Solid knife, great fit for that little pocket in my husband's jeans. The clip holds it in place well. The knife is sharp, and could be easily sharpened.
