Portable, Powerful & MUCH Better than Walking Home
Ever since I learned (the hard way) about Goat's Head weeds, I've taken extra precautions to avoid them, as well as other bicycle tire road hazards. However, it's not that easy to avoid everything that you can run over while riding a bicycle! I was shocked when I last took my flat tire to the bicycle shop and watched the technician pull small pieces of glass, rocks, and stickers out of my tire. Now I am MUCH more careful, I check my bike tires regularly and I use heavy duty inner tubes WITH a tire liner. I know the bicycle "weight weenies" wouldn't like the extra weight, but I'd rather RIDE on heavier tires than to have to WALK them home. Now I have this mini bike pump and I'm glad that I have it. It's plenty easy to carry along with me, with a spare inner tube and a tire changing tool. Changing a bike tire on the road is still easier than walking home ... ask me how I know. This pump is small and portable, about 7 1/4 inches long with the handle pushed all the way IN. The barrel of this pump is about 1 inch wide. It includes a plastic pump holder to affix to your bike with two screws, and includes the screws. The pump fits into the plastic holder quite securely. This pump will also accomodate tires with either Presta or Schrader valves. I have Presta valves, and just tried the pump out (while my bike was still in the garage!)This is a low volume, high pressure pump. That means that it will take you a lot of pumps of a low volume of air to pump up a bike tire to a high pressure. The box says 100 pounds. I didn't have a tire gauge handy that would measure tire pressure that high, but I could easily tell that this pump put plenty of air into my tire, definitely firmed it right up. I let about half of the air out of my tire, pumped for maybe two minutes, and the tire was VERY firm. The barrel of this pump is aluminum - very solid. This pump also includes an inflation "needle" for inflating footballs, basketballs, and the like. Very handy, don't misplace the needle! Also this pump comes shipped in a plastic "clamshell" case that simply UNSNAPS rather than having to hack your way through it with sharp knives or scissors. I have come to appreciate these "snapping" plastic cases, and seriously dislike the sealed plastic cases.Important Note: The instructions for this pump are few and simple. I had some trouble trying to figure out how to get the pump handle UNlocked from inside of the pump. I pulled and pushed and twisted. I finally figured out that you have to twist the pump handle maybe like 90 degrees and the handle will release. Don't pull the handle OUT with too much force, or you might break the plastic locking collar inside of the pump. It will come out easily when you have the pump handle turned to the right position.

Convenient in function and size
The Pump Me Up mini bike pump is useful for any biker fearful of getting a flat tire while away from home. The size is extremely convenient and it even comes with an attachment which can be used to secure the pump to the frame of your bike. From a perspective of constructive criticism, there are a few things that need to be improved upon and future buyers may need to make note of. The Pump Me Up mini bike pump comes with two screws and a needle for sports balls. I’m still not sure what the screws are for and there is not a convenient way to carry the needle with the pump. I considered just leaving it in the pump but was fearful that it would become damaged by being bent and it was nearly impossible to remove – I had to use two rubber jar openers to remove it.Also, there were no instructions included. There was however, a note of where you could find instructions and videos online. None of it was of much use. There was mention that it would be simple to switch the valve from Schrader to Presta. I was unable to do so and assume I would need pliers. I was concerned that I would not be able to return the pump to a usable condition due to my lack of bike pump knowledge, and it was not required that I do so to use it therefore I left it as it was.All in all – even though I received this item at a discounted price for my honest review, this is a product that any person with a bike and a couple flat tires should consider purchasing. With a couple of direct instructions, this product would be a home run. As is, a solid third base hit. Convenient in function and size.

Practice Makes Perfect
I wanted to attribute the early failure of this product to the product itself, but the problem was my impatience. I thought: why in the world would I have to read instructions on how to use a bike pump? or even weirder I thought: watching a video on how to use a bike pump. BUT: once I read the instructions and watched the video, it all made perfect sense and went smoothly. I had to reconfigure the pump for my stem type. When I tried to do that without instruction, I had the pump put together in a way that air was only released from the tube but could never go in. Another important point is to make sure the release clip is in the correct position for whether you're putting air in or trying to remove the pump from the stem. The release clip works opposite of the way my floor pump works. After I got the pump secure on the stem, it didn't take that many pumps to get my tire up to proper pressure from being totally empty of air (flat).I would recommend that you practice with this pump in a stress-free opportunity before you get out there and need it in a real situation. My frustration was quickly dissipated after I took the little bit of time to familiarize myself with the pump and its operation and then practiced using it. Now I know that it works properly and that I know how to get it to work properly. The pump itself is of high quality material. It's light. It's short enough to fit into my small under-saddle bag without taking up much room at all. It's really an attractive, efficient little gizmo. And at a good price. When I showed my bike group that I had a new pump, each rider friend who already had her own (different brands) exclaimed, "Yours is better than mine!"I am giving the product 5 stars. At first, my rating would have been much lower, but it was my own impatience that should get the low rating.
