Some Design Issues
First the good news. The material used for this duster is heavy duty [poly] and of high quality. One of the better design features was the rubber O-ring seal on the threaded pump end of the device. It provided a good air tight and dust tight seal. The flaw in this duster is with the black poly nose piece that snaps onto the front of the red poly body. There are two plastic projections on either side of the red body that help to lock the black nose piece in place and prevent it from falling off under pumping pressure but the plastic-to-plastic snap-on seal is not sufficient to keep the dust from blowing out everywhere under normal use. As you start to pump the duster, puffs and small clumps of dust powder drop out around the black piece. I also had marginal luck with the extension tube. There again, I did get some great dust clouds coming out but I also got what I'll call "clumps" of dust that fell on leaves and the ground even though the product I used was dry and loose. It just wasn't mixed with air. Also, thinking that over filling would cause poor performance with a device such as this I was careful to fill the red poly container only up to about 1/4 inch below the MAX FILL line.

worked as expected
No problems, no sprayback as others have mentioned. Got a nice fine mist both with and without the black extension.I would guess that the direction of spraying is important; point it up and you may have problems even if you aren't spraying at the moment that you point up.Pretty plastic aside, this seems to be a well engineered product.

No Quality Control in manufacturing
I read the reviews for this product and thought that those who complained just didn't understand how to use this product. I was wrong. I believe the problem with this product is NO QUALITY CONTROL during manufacturing. Some dusters are constructed properly and work perfectly while some are not constructed well and perform inadequately. The one I received was constructed poorly rendering it defective. The gap between the black plastic tip and the red bulbous body of the pump was so large that the powder I put inside immediately escaped in the aforementioned gap! And I hadn't even used the pump handle. And yes, I checked to be sure the black tip was seated properly on the body of the pump. When I did pump the handle, more dust escaped from the gap than the puff of dust that should have come from the tip. What a mess! I ended up with the poison I was trying to dispense all over my gloved hands. My advice is to buy another duster as you cannot be sure if the duster you receive will be one of the well-constructed ones. And, FYI, this duster is dark red in color not pink.

simple and effective
We use this for applying Diatomaceous earth. Its a simple design, but it works well. It creates a very fine mist when sprayed - perfect. It does feel a little on the cheap side, but at $15 it is what it is.

It gets the job done, sorta
It gets the job done. Sorta.. if you can get past the clumping and clogging. Have to shake it constantly to keep a flow of sorts.
