Seventy...80....81...Whatever it takes.
Worked as I expected. Good speaker for the money. I bought it to put in an ISO cab to match up with my Blackstar Club 40 Amp. It's the same speaker as is inside. It's an import speaker but does the job and for the money you can't go wrong for classic rock, jazz and country.

Application Specific
If your thing is guitar -> cord -> amp, and you like to drive the tubes and speakers into saturation, the Celestion 70/80 speakers are NOT what you want. These speakers are (just) a little harsh in that application. However, if you like a clean sound and/or use effects as the main component of that sound, these are excellent for that. The 70/80s are pretty neutral, with a low mid-range presence, and I think they are excellent, moderately priced speakers for modelling, a clean sound, or accurate presentation of your effects. They are also pretty light weight, which helps when installed in a 2x12 combo amp. I have a Traynor YCV-80 2x12 that came with 70/80s and, after I upgraded all the tubes, I totally fell in love with the clean sound. Running effects into that amp, the clarity combined with the incidental tube saturation caused by the transients of the guitar and effects, is SWEET. If you want the sound of speaker saturation, there are more options than I can count that would likely be superior to these, but if your looking for something that fits their purpose, go for it.

Its Loud!
I have that speaker in a 15 Watt combo amp and I cant believe how loud it is. Being a 12" speaker it really projects itself well. Seems to be pretty well balanced and I can play some really sweet solos below the 12 fret without being "ice pick" sounding. Really gives good tones with the volume crank up, but with a overdrive, boost or distortion pedal about 3 or 4 on the volume knob is all you want. I run my volume on overdrive at noon. I am very pleased with it in a cheap amp! I have a higher end 50 watt tube with a 4x10 cab and I think this speaker sounds better than the cab!

Great speaker for the price and quality
This speaker meets the expanded frequency range often requested by the new generation of amplifier builders. It brings balance without being muddy. Characterized by its hefty bottom end, aggressive mids, crisp highs, and robust volume handling, this speaker sounds great no matter what style of music you play - and it's affordable! It works well with a practice amp or your half-stack. Blends well.

Great price!!!!!!
My halfstack sounds tight with these matched with Celestion cream 75s . The weight of each speaker is light which makes my half stack not so heavy. I play ESP ECLIPSE through Engl Savage120 watt head and I can get all kinds of killer tones easily.

Out of the box this looked like a quality piece of equipment
Out of the box this looked like a quality piece of equipment. The first time I plugged it in, even knowing that it would need to be broken in, I was shocked on how alwful it sounded. I thought I had really screwed up on this one.But over time, it developed an excellent balanced, neutral tone. It is an excellent speaker with plenty of bass, as long as you use a heavy enough gage wire. I used 14 gauge and it worked like a charm. Go lighter and you will start to loose bass.
