    Outstanding book for hospital based physicians

I've worked as a hospitalist for a number of years.  It is a struggle keeping up with the steady stream of new antibiotics.  I found this book to be an excellent summary of the indications, contraindications, adverse effects and idiosyncrasies of each class of antibiotics.  The book is concise and purely clinical.  The book will certainly not turn you into an I.D. specialist, but it will allow you to manage most infectious diseases that you commonly encounter in the hospital.  I highly recommend the book to medical students, both medical and surgical residents and physicians who spend a large amount of time in the hospital.

I picked this book up as a quick overview for my Infectious Disease course. This is a great introductory supplement to read PRIOR to attending the lecture on that topic. I would highly recommend this book for those taking a course like this that do not have much of a clinical microbiology background, or if it has been a while since you have had the experience.

Used this book as a supplement to antibiotic lecture material in pharmacy school. I found it extremely helpful as it really is simple to read and understand. Each section on specific antibiotics is concise and to the point and quickly summarizes important information. I highly recommend this as a study tool.
