Timber Savage 5.5 Inch Barbed Felling Wedge Chain Saw Logging Supplies Set of 2

These are relatively small for wedges, but I guess it is one of the standard sizes. A lot of reviewers have said how badly they got beaten up by hammering on them, but I wonder just how they are being treated? I have use these for holding the kerf open when bucking a log, and I have never even needed to hammer on them - when the saw is about 1/2 way through, I just stick one of these in the top and smack it a couple of times with the palm of my hand - works PERFECTLY without any further effort,

I bought these after reading that these were a necessity when cutting down trees. My husband has just recently bought be a chain saw and I am trying to collect all the gear (he has been doing it for 45 years so doesn’t use any). He was pleasantly surprised I bought these as he kept thinking he could use some. For me, these are essential because I am not as strong and can’t afford to get the saw pinched in the tree.

I recently moved to a home on land and have quite a bit of work to do in the wooded area behind my home. While I admit that I am a novice at felling trees I spend a lot of time researching the correct and safe way to do this.I purchased these based on some of the reviews I myself read, but when it came time to use them I was a little disappointed. The first strike on the butt of one of these warped it fairly heavily and you could see the plastic whiten as it does when it weakens. I was very disheartened when I saw this happen the first time I used it because I began to doubt that these would last me a long time. The wedge definitely did its job and the tree fell as I thought it would, but there was even little pieces of plastic in the wood of the tree.Ultimately this set of wedges lasted about 3 or 4 fells before they became so distorted that I don't feel comfortable using them again.If you have questions about this review please email me at [email protected]

These work every bit as well as the steel wedges I have used at a fraction of the weight and cost. A hard combination to beat.

Exactly what I needed to keep the chainsaw from being pinched when cutting trees. Best price. More orange than red which I like to keep from losing them. They do not quite come to enough of an edge to fit in the smaller 0.25 kerf (spelling?) for the new Stihl battery chainsaws. Works great with the standard 0.375 on the gas saws.

I have a lot of tree felling experience, and have used these felling wedges to help "lean" the tree in the desired direction about 20 times so far. The wedges do chip a little on the butt-end after a lot of whacks with the sledge hammer, but they are still very usable. I would buy them again.

The items came on time and are well made. I used them on small trees so far...did not have to band them too hard so I did not give them a rough test...however they worked well enough for the 10" diameter trees that I felled and cut down.
