As you can see in the photo I attached of one of my tea blends which is using the Whole Frontier Natural Products juniper berries called Indigo Dreams, they are ripe, whole, and not shriveled or hard. Many people do not know that juniper is not only the flavoring in gin, but also a delicious flavor of its own that is hard to describe but very woodsy, piney, and sharp. They are not "berries" in the traditional sense of the word and are NOT meant to be eaten like berries. They are actually a type of cone (like a pinecone) but with merged scales that give it the appearance of a berry that come from an edible species of the Juniper tree, which is part of the Cypress family of trees. So these are good for using a few to flavor things here and there, but not to be included with trail mix or as a "snack". To create my tea, Indigo Dreams, I mix them with a lovely black tea, whole cloves, whole allspice, mallow flowers, and butterfly pea flowers, and with these juniper berries that creates a delicious tea, especially in the fall and winter months! Also great when making pot roasts. I would highly recommend these juniper berries to desertcart shoppers, as they are the highest quality I've had the pleasure to experience, and the buyers of my teas have all agreed! Also, as a side note, these are dried berries, but I was simply delighted to find they were still quite fresh - fresh enough that they can be dehydrated much further using a food dehydrator for even longer-term (several years) storages, which I have done.
