Its fully multi-coated borosilicate mirrors offer 94% reflectivity, while all-metal gearing ensures precise automated tracking. This complete package includes premium eyepieces and a finder scope, making it ideal for both serious astronomers and ambitious beginners seeking a powerful yet portable stargazing experience. ## Description Sky-Watcher’s GoTo Dobsonian epitomizes Sky-Watcher’s dedication to innovative ideas, combining our exclusive collapsible optical tube design with the convenience of a computerized GoTo mount. The SynScan hand controller allows users to point the telescope at specific objects, or tour the night sky with the touch of a button! Most astronomers crave the large aperture of a Dobsonian telescope, yet the lack of computerized GoTo features can be discouraging for some users. Sky-Watcher tackles this by adding motors to a traditional Dobsonian base, giving astronomers the benefits of a computerized GoTo system. Sky-Watcher’s signature SynScan hand controller uses two easy alignment methods, ‘Bright Star Alignment’ or ‘Two-Star Alignment’ for quick and easy setup. Once aligned, the SynScan hand controller can point to over 42,000 objects, including a full catalog of Messier, NGC and IC objects, providing you with a lifetime of celestial observing! While Dobsonian telescopes have a reputation for large apertures at a low cost, they often come at the expense of portability. The GoTo Dobsonian fixes this problem using our exclusive collapsible optical tube, featuring a strut system with three 1” steel poles and chrome locking screws. The strut system uses preset indentations which place the optics in the same position time after time, maintaining collimation. Unlike other Dobsonians using truss-tube systems, Sky-Watcher’s GoTo Dobsonian optical tube does not need to be disassembled before transporting from one location to another. With the ability to collapse up to 36%, these optical tubes can be easily transported in the backseat of most vehicles. At the heart of every Sky-Watcher telescope are professional-grade optics. The GoTo Dobsonian is no exception, using borosilicate mirrors coated in quartz, titanium and silicon dioxide. This yields an amazing 94% reflectivity, vivid contrast and minimal vignetting to deliver an exceptional viewing experience. Unlike other manufacturers, Sky-Watcher has a policy of providing you with all necessary accessories to get started. 8”, 10” and 12” GoTo Dobsonians include a 2” Crayford-style focuser, with a 1.25” adapter and two 1.25” eyepieces (10mm and 25mm). Whether this is your first telescope or not, there’s enough accessories for every kind of astronomer. ## Features - LARGE APERTURE: Get a bright, bold viewing experience at a fraction of the cost of other optical designs. - INNOVATIVE COLLAPSIBLE DESIGN: Unique strut design allows for optical tube to collapse for ease of portability while keeping collimation. - BUILT-IN WIFI: Control your telescope using a smartphone or tablet with Sky-Watcher’s proprietary built-in wifi signal. - ALL METAL GEARING: Using all-metal gearing on a pair of DC servo motors, the SynScan Dobsonian combines the precise automated tracking of a computerized GoTo telescope with the bright large-aperture viewing of a Dobsonian. - 94% REFLECTIVE MIRRORS: Fully multi-coated borosilicate primary and secondary mirrors deliver exceptional views. - 42,000 OBJECT DATABASE: SynScan hand controller with 42,000+ object database will keep even the most experienced astronomer busy for countless observing nights. - COMES COMPLETE: All accessories such as, 2-inch Crayford-style focuser with 1 1/4-inch adapter, two super wide-angle eyepieces (25mm and 10mm), and 9x50 straight-through finder scope are included with purchase. - STURDY AND LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN: When fully assembled, the Dobsonian weighs only 99.2 pounds fully assembled (46 pound tube, 53 pound base) ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Additional Features | Built-in WiFi | | Asin | B00Z4HVMHO | | Best Sellers Rank | #995 in Camera & Photo Products (See Top 100 in Camera & Photo Products) #102 in Telescope Refractors | | Brand | Sky-Watcher | | Built In Media | 10mm Plossl, 25mm Plossl, 9x50 Finder | | Coating | Fully multi-coated pyrex mirrors | | Compatible Devices | Smartphone, Tablet | | Customer Reviews | 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars (62) 3.8 out of 5 stars | | Eye Piece Lens Description | Plossl | | Finderscope | Reflex | | Focal Length Description | 1500 millimeters | | Focus Type | Auto Focus | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00050234118200 | | Item Dimensions D X W X H | 42"D x 28"W x 21"H | | Item Weight | 13.7 pounds | | Manufacturer | Sky-Watcher | | Manufacturer Part Number | S11820 | | Model Name | Sky-Watcher GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian 12" (305 mm) | | Model Number | S11820 | | Mount | Altazimuth Mount | | Number Of Items | 1 | | Objective Lens Diameter | 30.5 centimeters | | Optical Tube Length | 7 centimeters | | Optical Tube Length Measurement | 7 centimeters | | Power Source | Adapter | | Upc | 050234118200 | | Warranty Description | 2 Year | | Zoom Ratio | 12 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Sky-Watcher - **Eye Piece Lens Description:** Plossl - **Finderscope:** Reflex - **Focus Type:** Auto Focus - **Model Name:** Sky-Watcher GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian 12" (305 mm) - **Objective Lens Diameter:** 30.5 centimeters - **Optical Tube Length:** 7 centimeters - **Power Source:** Adapter - **Product Dimensions:** 42"D x 28"W x 21"H - **Telescope Mount Description:** Altazimuth Mount ## Images ![SkyWatcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51zusscKa7L.jpg) ![SkyWatcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/518P-v9yz-L.jpg) ![SkyWatcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Xu8wOcSoL.jpg) ![SkyWatcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51W14ZiskvL.jpg) ![SkyWatcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Syxh50enL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: These all show optic viewers, can they be connected to tablets / smart phones etc.?** A: Yea, you can just have a camera directly hooked up to the scope (without using an eye piece) and then have the camera hooked up to a laptop or tablet or w/e. **Q: Will this telescope track an object as it moves across the sky? I'm wanting to do 3-5 minute exposures continually for 3+ hours** A: Yes it will track. Not sure if the tracking is smooth enough for 3 to 5 minute exposures. I have had mixed success with 30 second exposures. The altitude and azimuth motors sometimes seem to go in a step function mode. All in all I am pretty happy with the scope but if I had to do it over again I would get an 8” on an equatorial mount. It would be lighter, more portable, easier to set up on a wet uneven lawn and more accurate tracking **Q: How powerful are the motors on the sides of the tube for tracking purposes? does camera/smartphone weight move it easily?** A: I noticed that I can generally have exposures of up to 30 seconds or maybe even a minute before blurred lines become an issue, depending on the location of an object. And this is with a Nikon D5100 **Q: how can one use a projector to show many people with sky watcher telescope?** A: use a usb telescope camera. send to laptop computer. and then use display clone from the laptop computer output HDMI to the HDMI input port of the projector ## Frequently Bought Together - Sky Watcher Sky-Watcher Flextube 300 SynScan Dobsonian 12-inch Collapsible Computerized GoTo Large Aperture Telescope (S11820) - SVBONY Red Laser Collimator for Newtonian Marca Telescope Alignment 1.25 inches 7 Bright Levels Triple Cemented Lens with 2 inches Adapter --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/15865731-skywatcher-flextube-300-synscan-dobsonian-12-inch-collapsible-computerized-goto](https://www.desertcart.be/products/15865731-skywatcher-flextube-300-synscan-dobsonian-12-inch-collapsible-computerized-goto) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-10-26*
