Very, Very Impressed
I bought this as a gift for my dad, and when I first started looking for a katana, I ran into the same endless pages of garbage $20-$50 katanas that I’m sure you’ve seen yourself. Then I came across this one that had like 4.6 stars and was kind of surprised. I figured it was worth the $38 to just see how it was, and I’m astonished. The katana I received was beautiful. The fittings are gorgeous, the profile and thickness of the blade seem to be true to the original Japanese katana, and the overall fit and finish is amazing. There’s no play with the fittings. I did have some strange preservate on the blade and in the sheath (I know it’s called something other than a sheath but I can’t recall the term), but it was simple to clean off and was a non-issue. The blade is thick and sharp right out of the box, and feels as though it could perform well in combat or in my case cutting some fruit and a bamboo mat because why not. I will say, if it isn’t implied, I don’t believe that there’s any way at all that this showed is on par with a sword that costs hundreds of dollars, but I think it’s exceptional for the price point. I highly recommend this katana in every aspect. You can’t go wrong.

Very pretty, both inside and outside its scabbard
Very pretty, both inside and outside its scabbard.Cons:-Not made for fighting, but I'm sure it'll do in a pinch if needed.-Sword was dirty with bits of...stuff when I got it. I had to clean it out, but also lost some of the oil that they put on the blade.-Paint on included display stand is not that smooth.Pros:-If you want a katana for decoration, this one will do the trick. It is high quality.-Scabbard is also high quality.-Comes with a display standNot the best katana in the world, but definitely an unbeatable value for the price.

Very disappointed
I've had several issues with this product. First, I never received the wood stand that I paid for. Second, the inside of the scabbard is disgusting and it dirties the blade (See pictures). Third, the blade collar detached itself immediately after opening (also see pictures). Also, how is it a "traditional JAPANESE katana" made in China and obviously not in a traditional way?I am very disappointed with this sword and will be asking for a new one.

but I love this one
I'm no expert on katanas, but I love this one, even though it cost so little. It arrived just as described, very sharp, and the blade had a light coating of oil to protect it.

Great quality for the price.
I just received my katana and I have to say that I’m impressed with the quality for the price! You can’t expect a folded steel $1,000 sword for $39. Mine is solid and well-crafted. I was prepared for it to be loosely assembled but it isn’t at all. As another reviewer mentioned, mine also has the dried “goop” inside the saya. I recently bought another katana that also had it so it must be a common treatment. I’m hoping that some repeated iajutsu practice will clean out the inside of the saya. I wish the manufacturer would just wrap the treated blade in a thin layer of plastic to keep the scabbard clean. I will NOT complain as that is the only downside that I can find with this katana. I think it is well worth the price. Also beware of the more expensive crane katana that has the upside down crane tsuba. I nearly selected that one before finding this one. Maybe this sword won’t cut through a heavy bamboo pole with ease but I didn’t purchase it with the intention of using it for cutting practice anyway. Very nice katana.

Perfect for beginning collectors. Probably the only usable katana for less than $100.
Probably the best usable sword for the money. Great for a first buy for collectors being that it has full tang and has two pins. Mine came with two pins, both bamboo (one should be brass closer to the hilt/tsuba) but I saw some people got theirs with only one pin. The wrapping at the base of the handle(tsuka) and on the sheath(saya) (the sageo) are wrong but are easily fixed by the owner. It has a fake clay temper line on the blade (the wave pattern on blades edge) done with laser but that is assumed with a katana at this price. The blade itself did come sharpened but not razor sharp. So if you plan on trying to do mat cuts or just play around cutting stuff you will probably need to put a usable edge on it.And to the point of the oil and gunky stuff on the blade, the oil is expected to help the blade not rust in storage or through shipping but the white material all over it is a bit inconvenient but easily cleaned off of blade. Just be ready to whipe off your sword when you decide to show it off or use it, since it’ll stay in the sheath for a while. But for $40 I didn’t think I would get a properly made and usable katana. This sword just falls short on the details but that’s why it isn’t $100.I was pleasantly surprised that the habaki was made properly, this is the brass piece around the blade at its base that helps guide katana into sheath. It is tapered like it should be and not just square like other cheap katanas.Lastly, I did receive the black nylon bag and stand as advertised so that’s good and a pleasant throw in, considering the price.

Very impressed
This was a very nice quality for a low price. You get more than you pay for with this one. I was worried it was another one of those with a bending blade, but that was not the case here. My son was very happy with it on Christmas Morning, but be careful, it is VERY sharp. I have to tape up a sewing mannequin now due to one swipe...
