Love It! The Portable Brewer for Excellent Coffee on the Go
The Delter Coffee Press is a fantastic portable coffee brewer that has quickly become my go-to option. With it, I don't know much of the point of using pour-over anymore. Here's what makes the Delter Coffee Press stand out: Portability: It's small and lightweight, making it easy to take with you wherever you go. Its compact size means it can easily fit in your bag, making it a great choice for outdoor adventures, office use, or just keeping your kitchen counter clutter-free. Ease of use and consistent results: The Delter Coffee Press is designed to provide flavor similar to a pour-over, but without the need to worry about how you pour water over the coffee bed. The result is a very consistently delicious cup of coffee that is simple to achieve, even for those new to brewing. Minimal equipment required: One thing I love is its built-in volume markings, so there's no need for a separate scale. Furthermore, you don't need a gooseneck kettle like you would for a pour-over setup. This saves space and keeps your coffee-making equipment to a minimum. A common discussion point when it comes to the Delter Coffee Press is its comparison to the AeroPress. The AeroPress, an immersion-style brewer, typically demands a higher coffee bean dosage (around 30g), resulting in a fuller-bodied coffee. On the other hand, the Delter Press takes an approach more akin to pour-over brewing, using a lower bean dosage of 15-20g. It also yields a cup of coffee with more floral, sweet, and acidic notes, accentuating the beans' subtle intricacies. Personally, I find the flavors generated by the Delter Press to be more appealing and well-balanced.

Best cups every time. I love it
It's very easy to push down while the Aeropress gets stuck when pressing down. I've made some strong cups so far. You must twist the black part super tight. I use my mountain bike gloves with gel padding on the palms to get an extra 1/2 out of my tightening. It's super strong plastic since I squeeze very hard while tightening, and it hasn't cracked yet. Otherwise it leaks as you press down if not tightened all the way. I use a metal filter that fit my Aeropress instead of paper filters, and it fits real snugg. Medium grinds work great. Remember, coffee expands when wet. The magic is in pressing slowly. The black rubber piece has some wiggle to it when I first looked at it. So I knew I had to be gentle when plunging. I fill it to 200 mark. Then I pull up to the 50 mark, then press down. Then pull back up to 100 and repeat the plunge. Then pull back up about a half inch above what ever remains for the final plunge.

Good but not better than aeropress
Works as advertised. But the flavor and quality of coffee made is not better than the aeropress. However, it's more time consuming than the aeropress. So, if you already have an aeropress I don't think you'll enjoy this. If you don't have an aeropress then this is neat to use and produces a nice clean cup of coffee.

Amazing coffee fast
Bought this for travel, as I recently elevated from regular coffee to espresso’s and wanted something that could deliver a similarly quality cup of coffee as on the 20 bar machine. It doesn’t get the full espresso extraction, but it gets pretty close for what it is, little bit less potent, but a fuller cup than an espresso, which I enjoy more. And it’s pretty quick, started using it at home when needing to get out the door faster.

Good coffee but hard to use
Aero press is much easier to use and makes great coffee.

Delter Coffee Press is not as good as an AeroPress
Months later: I like the ideas, I like the execution but the very small size of the coffee compartment forces either a very small or very weak cup of coffee. I used it for a couple of weeks and gave up. My wife used it for a couple of months and now she has also thrown in the towel. This current configuration just does not work for us. Buyer beware! An early impressions review, subject to change. I have been using an AeroPress (AP), upside down, for 5 years to make a very strong 12-14 oz cup of coffee using 28 gms of locally, very freshly roasted coffee The Delter DCP) is very different from an AP. It works similarly to a commercial espresso maker. Coffee ( at most 22-24 gms) is placed in the bottom compartment of the unit and hot water is forced through the grounds. The innovative thing (different from an espresso machine) is that you can press a little bit to wet the coffee and then stop, wait, press again and then (this is very cool) add more water to the DCP and press some more instead of diluting the concentrate as you do with an AeroPress. Early observations: - In my AP I use 2 of their scoops of coffee (26-28 gms) for a 12 oz cup. Real strong. So far I can only get 1 1/2 of those same scoops in the DCP. The filter compartment is just not that big. Note that you can put 4 scoops of coffee in an AeroPress (over 50 gms) and dilute out a net of 4 cups of reasonably strong coffee. Not possible with the DCP. - I'm trying out different combinations of water volume, wetting and waiting, so far it seems that the DCP makes a smoother cup but does not extract as much as an AP. I'm using an almost espresso grind and really packing the chamber (the measuring cap works great as a tamper). I have pushed 50 ml through the DCP and waited 3 minutes and then slowly pushed 100 ml at a time and still I'm not able to get a really strong cup like the AP. Looks like I am going to be forced to make a smaller cup (10 oz). - All that said, the coffee still has a lot of flavor and almost no bitterness. - Since I use the AP in the upside down mode I'm able to preheat my cup, the AP and pre-wet the filter (Note the DCP uses AP size filters). I haven't figured out how to preheat the DCP. Partial Fix: I pour hot water with an empty DCP sitting on the cup. Press it thru and then start the process, not as hot my AP process but OK. - The AP pops out a dry plug of coffee when finished, the DCP is messier. You will have to rinse coffee residue out of the brew chamber. - After about 10 cups the plunger seal is acting up. Having trouble pressing air through at the end. Emailed Mark at DCP, suggested cleaning and offered a replacement seal. Partial Fix: I rotate the plunger to seat the seal better. I know it sounds like I'm down on the Delter but I'm actually intrigued. I can see why it might make a better, smaller cup of strong coffee with the very flexible water flow options. The fixed coffee chamber vs APs stir and steep process is really a fundamental difference between the two machines. It took a long time for me to find the right process with my AP, I intend to keep trying with the Delter and will report back. Update after a week: Much better coffee. Really pack the chamber with fine grind, Have figured out water volume (2 fills, 195℉), Avoid any air push thru until the end. That end air does put out a little foam. Much better, no oils, will next try raising temp.

No need for scale! Just pull and push :)
Really easy and fast brew. I need to dial the water/coffee ratio to get the most out of it but overall it’s really practical! No need for a scale!

Fancy coffee brewer
A good brewer no doubt but don't buy thinking you can make espresso with it. It's a percolation brewer unlike aeropress which is an immersion brewer. You can make a wide variety of brews in an aeropress but in delter press you face some limitations because of limited coffee input in the cap(24~25gms). But the major advantage of delter press is that, you can make a large quantity of coffee as you can keep adding water from the top. This is the only point in which it beats aeropress. Not as easy to clean as an aeropress. It's a fun brewer and has an awesome design, a good addition to your collection.
