House Masters - Frankie Knuckles is a project that began in February 2014, with Frankie hand-selecting the productions and remixes he wanted to include on a retrospective release of his illustrious career. On the sad news of his passing on 31 March 2014, the project was duly paused. Now, with the creation of The Frankie Knuckles Fund established in partnership with the Elton John Aids Foundation, the release will finally see the light of day, with all profits being donated to the charity. The track list includes many of the most influential and highly-regarded records from the Grammy-winning producer, including ‘Tears’, ‘Your Love’, ‘The Whistle Song’ and ‘Baby Wants To Ride’ alongside seminal remixes for Alison Limerick, Inner City, Hercules & Love Affair, First Choice and Pet Shop Boys.

Grooving from start to finish
Fantastic! This is definitely the collection I would suggest to anyone looking to get into Frankie Knuckles. Smooth and sexy, soulful and euphoric, this collection has it all. I was thrilled to finally hear the Royal Piano mix of Pet Shop Boys' Left to My Own Devices, what a treat!

Non per niente era il padrino dell'House Music.
"Your Love", "Baby wants to ride", "Ain't Nobody' (Hallucinogenic Version)" da sole valgono il prezzo del biglietto qua ...tutto il resto è comunque crema della miglior qualità che sazia sempre tutte le volte che si preme play.Grazie di tutto Frankie.

The Master!
The man like Frankie may be gone but his legacy lives on. Some of the remixes here are superb, especially the Too Many Fish remix. Nice tributes, too, from many of his peers including Hector Romero and David Morales. The 1 star review should be ignored. The guy thinks 2 Unlimited and Capella are techno!

Hammer Compilation und Hommage an den Godfather der House Music
Diese Zusammenstellung ist einmalig und leider auch sehr traurig, weil Frankie Knuckles im letzten Jahr gestorben ist. Nichts desto trotz können wir uns über 22 super schöne House Tracks freuen. Die Mixe oder Remixe stammen aus dem Zeitraum der 80er Jahre, in denen Knuckles daran beteiligt war, House Music als neuen Sound zu etablieren, bis hin zu den 00er Jahren. Ich möchte gar nicht jeden Song besonders hervorheben, aber "Teams" oder "The Whistle Song" für sich genommen sind schon Klassiker. Aber auch die Remixe für Driza Bone, First Choice oder Lösse Ends sind absolut perfekt. Im Rahmen der Zusammenstellung wird sehr gut dargestellt, welche unterschiedlichen Mixe Knuckles produziert hat und wie flexibel seine Arrangements ausgefallen sind. Natürlich gibt es den groovigen Knuckles Sound. Was jedoch nicht bedeutet, dass dieser Sound langweilig ist. Ganz im Gegenteil! Dance Classic, Soul, Funk und bei den Per Shop Boys sogar Pop werden ganz neu interpretiert.Mir gefällt hier auch besonders die Anordnung der einzelnen Stücke. Das ist nicht chronologisch angelegt, sondern eher wie eine angenehme Reise durch die Geschichte der modernen House Music angeordnet.Nach dem Durchlauf der 22 Tracks wird man ein wenig wehmütig. Was hätte dieser begnadete Künstler und DJ alles noch umsetzen können.Hier wird Frankie Knuckles adäquat gewürdigt mit einer 5 Sterne Compilation. KAUFEN!

これがシカゴハウスというものか
本作はハウス創始者、故フランキーナックルズ氏の過去のミックス楽曲群をまとめたアルバムです。恥ずかしながら僕は、ハウスに関しては熱心に聴いている人間ではなく、フランキーナックルズ氏の作品も本作を通じて初めて聴かさせて頂きました。元々はディスコが聴きたくて、ラリーレヴァン界隈のコンピを漁っていたのですが値段が高いので（廃盤なので）他に何か良いの無いかなぁと探していたのがキッカケでした。で、実際聴いてみると、ディスコハウスの創始者としてラリーレヴァンと共に双璧を成したフランキーの音はドツボにハマったわけです。ディスコからハウスに変換される瞬間の楽曲をまとめているといった感じで明確にジャンルとして確立された後のハウスとは音の質感が一味違います。あくまでもディスコベースで生楽器の感触もありますしソウルフルなボーカルもフィーチャリングされています。特にDisk2はその色が顕著に現れていると思います。（1枚目よりもコンピレーション感が強いという所もありますが）なので僕みたいにディスコが聴きたい人にもお勧め出来るコンピアルバムだと思います。逆に打ち込み比重のハウスを期待している人はちょっと肩透かしかもしれません。ですが、単純に楽曲が良いので結局の所どなたでも受け入れやすい作品なのではないでしょうか
