Better than the Cartech SADesign book
Ok there is nothing in the book that you can't find online in a forum or by watching hours of youtube. The real benefit of the book is its a quick reference with high quality pictures for those jobs that you want and need some help.Of the topics covered, the only place that was a slight disappointment was the windows.#1) Based on forums it would appear there is a compatibility issues b/w some motors and some regulators so to be safe you should purchase them as a mated pair. Which cost more. I would have liked to known which ones match up. #2) They didn't cover the rear windows on the R52. Again forums tell you the process is similar with less clearance but I would have like to had those clear pictures in my book.Topics that could be expanded or explained better#1) Rally lights. The OEM Ralley light wiring require high beams to be turned on. A great modification would be to bypass the high beams option and allow for the Ralley lights when the fog lights are turned on.#2) Mini Cooper Spring identification with difference in ride heights for lowered springs. compare all springs on the single car.Still a great book and I'm happy I bought it.FYIThe Cartech SA182P book isn't terrible. But in general the recent series of books aren't grounded in everyday reality. The Cartech book does provide some very cool tables and concepts explaining why you should upgrade a part. The Pelican book helps you install the parts you are actually going to buy and not just give you expensive option ideas. There are a few topics that I thought were missing.#1) comprehensive torque value table (easy to photocopy and have out during work)#2) a detail review of the fuse box difference and functionality. Many MINI official upgrades are retrofit kits but they tap power in what appears to be unusual ways. It would be nice to see how these original options where fused from the factory. Also the fuse box labels on Mini make no sense so a good explanation would be helpful.
