Works perfectly on a MacBook Air (Mid 2013)
After 7 years of use, the 256GB SSD of my MacBook Air unexpectedly died, fortunately I had a week-old Time Machine backup (seriously, if you haven't done a backup of your Mac, get an external drive and do a Time Machine backup now!). I thought the SSD was soldered and I would have to buy a new MacBook Air (SSD died 3 days before the M1 Macs were unveiled) but doing some research, found that it was possible to replace the SSD for this model! After doing lots of additional research, found that the Fledging SSD had lots of great reviews, so I planned to buy the smallest version and see if I could recover my information. Ended up buying the 512GB SSD since it would arrive in 1-day vs 5 days for the 256GB. Installation was a breeze (I used my own toolset that I trust, didn't use the provided tools in the kit), SSD was immediately recognized and as able to recover all my information from the Time Machine backup.Performance of the new SSD is way better than the original one - realized that with the combination of the new SSD and the latest Big Sur MacOS my MacBook Air is super-snappy again (not bad for a 7 yrs old laptop) so decided to buy a MacMini M1 instead of a laptop to replace my aging 2012 MacMini, and probably replace the MacBook Air with the second gen in a year or so (I keep my computers running for a very long time). This was an excellent buy, and sadly, a reminder of why it's so great to be able to replace SSD/memory on your computer (something not possible with the new M1 systems, even though I'll end up buying one).

Adds new life to your MacBook, included tools make it easy to install
I'm very happy with this purchase. My original SSD was 128GB and split between MacOS and Windows so disk space was at a premium. After installing this 512GB I feel my 2013 Mac/WinBook will be good for years more.It was only a small trouble to install as it took more force than expected to push in all the way and it seems quite fragile up front so I was concerned it would break but it held up.It seems to be faster than my original SSD but I haven't done any benchmarking to know for sure. And it even came with a complimentary 64GB USB stick which was perfect for installing OS Monterey directly instead of the onboard version first.

Great Product, Great Price!
Last weekend, my Hard Drive failed after six years. I needed a replacement quickly, but buying directly from Apple isn't in my budget at the moment. Luckily, I found this product within the first search results. I ordered on Sunday afternoon, and it arrived by Tuesday morning.Installation of the SSD was fairly simple. It did take my laptop (MacBook Pro, Mid-2014 ) two tries to recognize the SSD initially, but then I was up and running. I use Mojave on one partition for older apps that Apple no longer supports, and the latest, Big Sur, on my main partition. No issues. Everything runs smoothly and fast!I look forward to seeing what Fledging does in the future. This was a great product at a great price!

2 Feathers
I received the Feather SSD chip from Amazon and proceeded to install in my Macbook Pro 2015 version. I figured it was about time I increased the capacity on this laptop as it still works as new, I keep this in great condition. The installation process was way easier than I thought considering it is an Apple product, they're usually more on the complicated side. After replacing the old chip and turning the laptop back on, it fail to load past the Apple sign at startup. Then I tried using the manual commands and the backup would only load about halfway through before failing. I knew something was wrong at this point and contacted their customer service, which for a smaller company they are excellent. After talking it through, Fledging sent a replacement chip with return labels to ship back the original chip I initially received from Amazon. After installing into my laptop, the computer turned on like brand new and I installed from my backup through Time Machine. I really want to thank the Fledging customer service for assisting with the new chip as I was planning to send it back to Amazon for refund. It's been over a month and I haven't had any problems with my chip so far. I would recommend to anyone looking to raise their storage capacity on their older Macbook, or even a newer one.

It works great 2015 Mac Air
I did have to use disk utility to format it as even though it came with High Sierra it still needed to be erased for some reason when it should not have needed to be as when I went to restore my daughters Mac from time machine running Catalina it chocked so then erased it and the restore starting working. You can't boot from TM but once it was restored big circle on the MAC just did a command R when booting and the option to restore Catalina shows up to install to the mac hard drive which of course is the Fledging drive which I did and everything working fine. There have been some issues with sleep and awake with all NVME drives I went to their site and there is a terminal fix for that by the way same for OWC seems to be 2013 and 2014 Macs had the issue I have an early 2015 but I made the changes anyway going to contact them to see if they were needed or not as I did not have any problems.

Terrible quality SSD and NO customer support
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to upgrade my ssd on my MacBook Pro Retina 2015 and decided to purchased this item. It was super easy to still and had no issues. After a couple weeks my laptop started randomly shutting down. Then one day it completely shut down and now every time I turn it on I just get a black screen. Seems like the ssd is not being recognized by the laptop. I tried to use my previous ssd(original from apple) and it works perfectly. I assume the problem is not my device is instead the ssd. Only lasted 4 months!! Terrible qualityMoreover, i contacted Fledging directly since amazon wouldn’t help refund or replace the item and we went back and forth communicating via email. Ultimately, they sent me a 120GB SSD and an USB flash drive with MacOS installer on it. This didn’t resolve any of my issues since I bought a 1TB SSD for $154 dollars. Extremely unsatisfied to say the least please try another product instead of this one

Amazing customer support and incredibly easy installation
I’ve been using this drive for a week now, and consider it one of the best purchases I’ve ever made for an Apple accessory. My laptop is the 2015 11” MacBook Air - super portable, but hindered by the fact that it only has a 128GB drive. As I was tired of having to carry an external drive with me everywhere, I decided to upgrade the SSD myself. The issue is that Apple utilizes their own proprietary drive, so a standard NVMe drive doesn’t work unless you have the adapter for it. Then you have to format the drive properly, and there’s no guarantees that you buy one that works or has a good support team of something goes wrong - particularly being based in Canada. With the Fledging drives, they take the hassle out of the equation as they all come pre-formatted and pre-loaded with MacOS High Sierra. All you have to do once you install it is simply turn on the power button and set up the computer. I actually spent more time updating the computer to Big Sur than I did installing this drive or setting it up.As Fledging utilizes the standard NVMe drive with a soldered adapter, the first couple of days may lead to some kinks that you have to work out. My laptop ran extremely hot for a couple of days (I expected it to run warm the first day, as that’s typical when you do a fresh install and the computer is indexing everything). I was able to reach out to their support team via email, and received a response within a couple of hours with detailed steps on resetting a couple settings for my computer to work properly.I also elected to go with the 2TB option simply because I wanted the space, but I recognize that is definitely overkill for most people. I was equally surprised that the storage was actually ever-so-slightly OVER 2TB, as most drives run slightly under the capacity they’re sold as.Even purchasing through Amazon, the drive comes with a three-year warranty through Fledging’s website (so make sure you register!) which helps give a nice peace of mind. After spending the time researching, I’m glad I went with Fledging. They offer outstanding customer support, and their drives are an amazing value for the price. I can’t recommend them enough.(NOTE: Though installation instructions don’t mention unplugging the battery to swap out the drives, it is always recommended unless you know what you’re doing and are extremely careful!)

Probably the best value out there
I'm writing this review from my early 2015 13" MacBook Pro.Installation: This was especially straightforward. Everything you need to perform the upgrade came with the SSD. Before installing the new SSD, make sure you update your Mac to High Sierra (or newer). My computer was still running El Capitan... After the firmware was updated, installation was basically plug and play. I didn't disconnect the battery, however, a pro tip is to keep your vacant hand touching the unibody to ground yourself and avoid short circuiting your logic board.Make sure you have a time machine backup if you wish to recover your data. All of my important data was already on the cloud, so I booted up to a fresh install of High Sierra. Results: The 1 terabyte drive was recognized immediately. Read & write speeds were more than double what I was getting with my 128gb OEM SSD. About 1300/1500mbps for RW respectively. Everything looks great so far, and I have yet to report any major issues. Super happy with my upgrade!Issues: Upon turning on the MacBook, boot speeds were considerably slower. If you run into this issue, the simple fix is to go to System Preferences > Startup Disk, and then select your new SSD and hit "Restart...". Boot speeds restored to normal (if not, faster!). No need to run anything in terminal. My mum bought this MacBook for me when I started university in 2015. The 128gb ssd was maxed out well within a couple years of normal use. Since this machine means a lot to me, I kept it on a bookshelf for the next few years. Within those years, I have owned various MacBooks (12', Air, Touch Bar), but they all had their own issues. I can't express how happy I am to be using this MacBook again. Wait until mum hears!

Installed flawlessly
Awesome, affordable update from my piddly 250gb drive that i was constantly moving files to external drives because it was full. Also seems much faster than the old drive. A lot cheaper than buying a new laptop!

Works Well so far!
I bought this Fledging 1TB M13 to upgrade my Early 2015 Macbook Pro's 128GB SSD. Installation of hardware was easy, some people say you should remove the battery connector, but the manual doesn't tell that so I did not. It came with Macos High Sierra installed, updated to Big Sur without any hassle in around 45 mins then used migration assistant to get my latest time machine backup, which took fairly long but can't remember exact timing. I hope it will keep on working with no issues. No more stress when time comes to update OS anymore. I am getting around 1200MB/s read and 1100MB/s write speeds which are not bad.

M13 does not fit MacBook Pro Late 2013
The Fledging Feather M13 is a standard lower cost NVMe SSD drive with a plug in adapter to connect to a MacBook Pro late 2013 Retina. It is physically too long to get properly fastened to the original mounting socket. Drive will not be detected by the MBPro with OS Mojave installed even after all online instructions are followed. Manufacturer does not respond to eMail enquires (Laura). Fledging will only take phone messages to which they do not respond. Glad it was purchased through Amazon. They offered an excellent, efficient return process. Well done. I do feel sorry for Amazon dealing with these second tier manufactures peddling product they know does not work and then do not support nor even respond to inquiries on it. Hope Amazon will develop a process to eliminate these second tier vendors and save themselves the cost of returns and the headache caused to their customers. Not an SSD manufacturer you should consider for upgrading your MBPro.
