There's little slots and tabs on each upright that lock/slide together for storage so the uprights aren't flopping around in the way. Not easy at first to pull apart, but use your head and be patient. It works! You just have to be smarter than Magilla-Gorilla. Rubber coated uprights won't scratch your firearm or allow it to move.
