Works as a Shutoff Valve in case of a leak.
Much better than another model that I purchased and then had to return. Having two clamps really helps the mechanism to work. The valve is easy to install and control via the SmartLife app. Our water shutoff valve is kinda hard to completely shut, probably due to its age. As such the valve cannot completely shut the water off as it doesn’t have enough power/torque. It seems to continue to try to completely shut the valve but can’t. I am not sure whether it eventually will stop or whether it will continue until I return or the motor burns out. I wouldn’t recommend this for those that want to use this regularly to control water flow unless your valve is easy to move by hand. I am okay with this since the unit is being used only to shut off the water in case that a leak is detected and we are not home. It’s better than the valve remaining open. In the future I will replace the ball valve with a low voltage controlled valve.

Home run! An amazing idea that works!
I bought this to pair with a MOBI smart home water leak sensor through the Smart Life app to turn off my city water if a leak was detected. And another to control my outside water faucets remotely. My only complaint is that my 3/4" ball valve is a bit too tall so I had to use some metal to wrap the pipe to raise it up a bit. Would have been nice if they included some sort of shims to stick on the pipe to raise it up. But other than that, it definitely has enough torque to spin the valves. Response time through Alexa is fast. Bootup time is very, very fast. It gets on the network in 10-30 seconds. It DOES have a setting in Smart Life to change its behavior when power is restored. Options are: Open, Close, and Previous State. This was mentioned before as a problem, and I think a software update may have fixed it.Build quality seems solid. Would be nice to have a 'wifi connected' light, all you have is a blue light indicating whether the water is on, no power light. That's ok, it sits in the corner of my basement and if I want, I can set a 'device offline' notification. Alexa will control the device in <5 seconds, and water is shutoff in 15 seconds. The MOBI leak sensor is about the same. So in <15 seconds, your water is off.I'm amazed. Then the price makes it even more amazing.

Smart Water Valve,Wifi Control Water/Gas Shut Off Valve
Update December 20, 2020: Still working flawlessly; almost two years now. I test it every once in a while, partly to make certain it still works but mainly to make certain that the water shutoff valve itself doesn't get stuck.Device came nicely packaged and with extremely fast delivery. Setup was easy; partially because I had set one of these up before but this one seems to be better. The installation was fairly easy and feels very secure. This is important because there is quite a bit of twisting torque during opening and closing of the valve.Without detracting from what I said there are three items that I feel deserve attention.1. Size of print in the included setup instructions needs to be bigger so us old guys can read it, and2. It would have been nice to include the correct size allen wrench. Most folks will have a screwdriver but not necessarily an allen wrench3. The most Important one is: The device defaults to closed after power is restored following a power failure. This is a concern because a water heater will continue to heat the water and it is my understanding that, for some water heaters, this is not a good situation. This is the main reason for turning down your water heater when away for an extended time and the reasons some water heaters have a vacation setting. It isn't just to save money. I will be looking for a method using IFTTT and Smart Life to determine the condition where the valve is closed and there hasn't been a water leak. If I find one I will publish it here.Update: I did some testing and came up with a possible solution to the power loss scenario: I have included screen shot of the apps I set up in IFTTT. I tested this and it works. If I do have a leak I will get two emails: one from the leak detector and another from the valve. In the case of a power failure I will only get the email from the valve.Update: November 13, 2019: While the IFTT Applets do work they are proving to be extremely unreliable and shouldn't be relied on to work when needed. This is too bad because it spoils an otherwise great deviceUpdate May 31, 2020: No fault of this device but the Smartlife app has ended support for IFTT. They have, however, added phone support. It is not free but at $1.80/year for 50 calls it is well worth it. I have tested it and it does work. Having the the ability of receiving a phone call adds to my sense of security. The valve itself still works flawlessly. The mount remains very secure

Temporarily saving me thousands of $ to fix a crossover
My master shower is tiled, and the shower head uses a mixing valve that needs to be replaced as it is causing a plumbing crossover. The crossover is dramatically affecting the entire rest of my house. Rather than trying to open up the shower wall (and creating tile work along with plumbing and fixture costs) and replacing the valve, I paid a plumber to put a ball valve on the hot water branch going to my master shower. I then put this valve on the ball valve handle and connected it to my wifi as well as my Amazon Echo devices. I named the valve "hot water". When I need to take a shower I say "Alexa turn on hot water", and the valve opens up the hot water line to my shower - temporarily enabling the crossover but allowing me hot water in the shower. After the shower I say "Alexa turn off hot water" and the valve closes the hot water line to my shower, thus isolating the crossover out of the system.Ultimately I need to fix the crossover, but for now I can spend my $,$$$ on more pressing needs. Once I do fix the crossover it's a simple removal of this smart valve from the ball valve and no one is the wiser (AND now I end up with a hot water cutoff valve for my shower!)
