DAHON Faltrad Mariner D8

I bought this during lockdown. I delayed buying the bike for so long because there were no reviews and I was worried the bike would be terrible. Then I eventually decided to just take a chance on it because I really wanted a folding bike and there was no stock of other bikes anywhere. I wish I had just bought it sooner and not waited. The bike is terrific. A little heavy, but otherwise absolutely brilliant. It rides so much better than I expected. I would highly recommend this bike. If you're in doubt about this bike like I was, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I really wanted this bike as I had researched Dahon and knew it is a great company for making folding bikes. I had to wait a little while for it to come back in stock but was very pleased when it arrived. It was quick to put together, didn’t really have to do much other than removing protective packaging. It looks great, super easy to fold and unfold, and light. It feels very sturdy and rides well. Unfortunately, I am having some issues with the bike. There is a scratching sound from the front wheel. At first I thought it was the fender but it seems to be more an issue with the break plates rubbing against the wheel. This will probably get better over time but it could be an issue as the break pads will wear down. I am also having trouble with the gears which I am more concerned with. I have noticed when I am on some gears, 4 being most noticeable, there is a constant clicking sound and some gear changes do not happen until several minutes later. I don’t know if there is a issue with the alignment or it was damaged during shipping. I don’t think it was the shipping issue as the bike was well wrapped but the box did come upside down.I was thinking of taking it to a bike shop but it seems very unfair to have to pay to service a brand new bike, and I also thought it may affect the warranty. I’m a little unclear about the warranty as there was not much information in English in the box. Hopefully Amazon will let me know what to do.

I do wish that we had bought these bikes a while ago. They are great, they do everything they say and very pleased with riding position and how rigid the bike is. Extra power into the pedal. I did hope it was a little bit smaller than it is but i get one in the boot and one on the back seat of my fiesta. Very pleased. My wife was very dubious at first but she loves her Dahon now. Out on our bikes all the time now no excuses.

Really impressed with this bike. Had it for nearly two weeks and been on several rides. I like its stability, it feels solid and strong, especially as I am over 6ft. Gears are great, its fast enough and does hills well. I have two other road bikes including a 26in wheel dahon - and the Mariner will never ride the same - but on its own terms its impressive and exceeded expections.

Amazon, was war das? Ich kann das Rad nicht zusammenbauen und testen, da die Montageanleitung und die Gebrauchsanweisung auf Holländisch ist!
