I don’t know what “sheerness” or “thickness” have to do with this tool but I do know that it works extremely well. One caveat is that you MUST IGNORE the color codes painted on the dies or you will undercrimp. When crimping blue connectors you must use the red dot. When crimping red connectors you must use green dot (where did green even come from - not part of the standard colors) when crimping Yellow use Blue dot. I have re-painted the dots on my tool to match the actual colors of the gauge connectors they crimp - it just makes using this tool easier - but the tool is of high quality and works extremely well for crimping on heat shrink connectors.

I wasn’t so sure how much I liked this when I first used it, I was hoping it gave more of a cleaner factory machine looking crimp.I’ve used it a couple hundred times now and it does make for a nice consistent crimp that holds without tearing the outer insulation on the connector you’re crimping. Also, either my hand has gotten stronger from using it or it just gets easier to squeeze with use, it took me two hands to squeeze it the first few uses, but a couple hundred uses later I can squeeze it now fairly easily with just one hand as long as I stay at the very back end of the handles.

Works great BUT after I used it on a couple ends I got better at soldering and making the ends are solid.

It crimped on the stakons tight the way they are supposed to be, used with red and blue. Easy to use, and compact enough for my tool bag. Exactly what I wanted without paying for the brand name.

I was using the cheap wire crimpers that everybody has probably used at least once, until they broke. I mostly have heat-shrink connectors and these said they are specifically for those. These things are awesome. You put the connector in there, squeeze down and you're done. It makes a solid crimp the first time for all 3 sizes and does not damage the heat-shrink sleeve. Can also be used on non-heat-shrink connectors. You also don't have to kill your hand by squeezing them like my others did, doesn't take much pressure to crimp.

This one is for Blue, Red or Green connectors... I have another one at my other home that has Yellow, Blue and Red... Green is pretty tiny, and I literally don't have a single green connector... And when wiring up alarms, remote starts, stereo's etc. I do use yellow quite frequently...
