Not very rugged nor industrial
I do not write many reviews but felt I should write one on this grill brush because I came close to bodily harm. I had the brush since January of this year (2015) but only recently used it. When I used it for the third time, it broke completely in half at the connection of the metal rods to the handle (similar to the review below from woody) while I was scrubbing the hot grill. If it had broke while I was in the middle of the grill, one of my hands could have come in contact of the grill, burning it. Fortunately, I was at the edge of the grill when it broke. I am not a strong person and for it break while I was using it, when I was using it is unacceptable. It appears the product is unavailable as I write this review. As it should be. I would give it no stars if I could.2015-06-03I've been in contact with the manufacture. They are refunding the price of the brush and sending me a replacement brush. I will update my review when both occur.2015-06-10 UpdateI received a full refund from the Rugged Grill Co. on June 3rd and a new brush on the 5th. I have not had a chance to use the brush yet but I have changed my rating from 1 to 3 based on the service I received from Rugged Grill Co. I will update my review when I get chance to use the brush several times. It is nice to see a company be pro-active on issues that may occur on products they produce and sell.

A toothbrush for a friend
It was a dark and dreary night. The sky was alight with a full moon and the wind was blowing every which way, obscuring my vision and whipping my face with the cold wet snow. On my way to procure wood for the fire, I gathered what I could carry and made my way back to the cabin. Suddenly, I felt a cold shudder throughout my body. I could feel that someone, or something, was watching me. As I turned around, I saw a dark outline of a shadowy figure behind the trees. The fear built up within me as I wondered what was out there waiting for me. All the while, the figure moved closer and closer. When it finally got close enough, I was horrified by what I saw. Standing in the snow was a large brown yeti and he was staring at me with a grimaced look and bearing his teeth. The fear of the encounter with this creature had paralyzed me and I could not move or even so much as look away. While every instinct I had screamed to run or try to defend myself, I found myself in awe of the discovery of this majestic animal. As he drew closer, I looked into the creature’s eyes and saw deep down into his soul. What I saw was not a beastly fearsome animal but a sad lonely individual looking not for its next meal; instead I saw in his heart the desire for companionship. I think he felt it too because when I extended my hand, his steely look softened as he sensed that I meant him no harm.I invited him into the cabin for a can of baked beans cooked in a pot over the fire and he begrudgingly accepted. After talking with the yeti, I learned that in his travels he had not been treated kindly by the other humans he had encountered. He had been the subject of numerous searches to find the creature that was responsible for stealing and eating the livestock of the local farmers. When we talked, I was shocked at the level of intelligence this creature possessed. We spoke of life, love, family and even politics. I once sat with him for an hour as he explained to me why he would have voted for George W. Bush for president, much to my dismay. I could not understand how such a smart individual would come to such a conclusion. Regardless of his political opinions, we continued to speak at length about our dreams and goals in life. He had come to admire and envy human ingenuity and told me he wanted to begin living a more refined life. He said that he had scared every person he had come into contact with except for me and he believed it was because of his horrible stench and terrible dental problems. Eating live animals with his bare hands had left him a disgusting mess and he wanted to change that. I offered to take him out to the wood shed, hose him down and scrub him with a deck brush and he happily accepted. Watching the look of happiness on his face when I did this brought me great satisfaction.Unfortunately, while the deck brush was a practical solution for the stench of his fur, I did not know how to help him with his dental issues. Luckily, I am an Amazon Prime member and did some searching online and found this BBQ grill brush. No ordinary toothbrush is big enough or strong enough to scrub off years of accumulated animal blood and entrails. We needed something industrial. I gave him the brush as his 137th birthday present and he was thrilled. As soon as he tried it though, I could see his expression change. I asked him what was wrong and he said that it just didn’t feel right. Realizing he was accustomed to putting disgusting things in his mouth, I decided it might be a good idea to use the BBQ grill brush for what it was intended and clean my grill with it. It did an excellent job of removing the charred remains of the many meats that had been cooked on my grill and as it turns out, he loved the taste it gave his new toothbrush. Almost like the beef flavored toothpaste they sell for dogs. Now, he is like a whole new yeti with his char flavored toothbrush and my grill is sparkling clean. This experience has forged a lifetime bond between us. One of these days I will hopefully work up the courage to tell him about the black smears the char leaves on his teeth, but I don’t want to spoil his excitement.

Great grill brush once you make a minor modification to improve it
I am very hard on grill brushes. I've used several Weber grill brushes over the years. Typically, the Weber brush only lasts about 3 - 4 months before the bristles are flattened and within 6 months the brush is pretty much useless. I have been using this brush for almost a year now and it is still going strong (i.e. the bristles are not flattened and it still cleans my grill). I took note of other reviewers complaints about it rusting (so I never leave it outdoors) and the handle breaking. Since I am so hard on grill brushes, I decided to improve the handle. I went to a local HW store and got two 3/4" hose clamps. Since the rebar goes about 1 - 1.5 inches into the plastic handle, I installed the two hose clamps near the end of the handle to reinforce it. A year later, and it is still working. See attached pictures.

Handle broke after a few uses but manufacturer made it right
Used it 2 or 3 times over 6 months and the handle snapped off and the brush fell off. Quality does not seem to be very good. I found a link on Amazon to send them an email which I did on 10/4/2015. I am waiting to see if they respond. I will update if they respond and their response. If I do not update then they never contacted me back.Heard back from company today 10/8/2015 that they are going to replace the brush with 2 new ones. They said they had a bad manufacturing run. Raised my stars from one to three as they responded to my email and have promised to make it right. Will raise again once they replace the brush as promised. They manufacturer came through with 2 new brushes to replace my broke one. Raised rating to 5 stars as thye fixed the porblem without any issues.

Does a good job; until it rusts and falls apart after a few months.
It did a good job of cleaning my Weber grill for a couple of months. It didn't scratch the grill surface. The bristles aren't really that long so it doesn't go deep and I needed to be careful not to go deeper than the bristles - hold it flat. Also, while the bristles don't rust (stainless), the part that goes into the handle - especially where the metal is twisted - got rusty very quickly and then the handle fell off. Quite disappointed. Not a good purchase, cannot recommend.

Works great until it breaks.
Works well until it breaks. I bought it a couple of years ago, so I can't complain too much, but the handle broke.Definitely not "Rugged". If you use two hands and put much pressure on it, it won't last too long.I'm going to get another and reinforce it with hose clamps like one of the other reviewers suggested. It appears to be too late to fix it once the plastic has broken.
