[silver] Very nice design, and feel, but not very durable.
This is my 5th trainer, and I own about 8 butterfly knives overall of various weights and sizes, this offer MUCH better quality on most of the parts, the handles are nice and tight, with very little play!it feels nice in the hand.it came very tight, and would not flip AT ALL, but with loosening the screws it started working much better.however, with a little over a week of use, and only about 1 drop, the tang pin just fell out.Turns out, it was only very held in by some striations on the tang pin it's self. and they got flanned out from NORMAL use!I've had handles crack, screws come loose, handles with almost 1" of play, and much more, but i've NEVER seen one break like this.the black coated one may last a little longer (bought one for a friend) due to the coating, but DO NOT BUY the silver one!!

Excellent for taking a break
Arrived earlier than expected, in excellent condition. The only issues I found (mostly due to not being able to handle the product before purchase) are the handles are a bit too squared off to be comfortable, and the locking pin is a bit short for the handles to lock closed. You really have to squeeze the handles together with the knife closed to lock them in place with the pin. Other than that, it's perfect for flipping around when I want to take a break from typing or proofing documents - it's nice, mindless entertainment when you need to take a break from work.

Very nice and came in on time.
Very good trainer for the price. It does come in a little stiff but some practicing will loosen it up. I am satisfied with it and I would recommend it to pros and amateurs. I have many balisong and I also have some that cost 3-4 hundred dollars and this trainer can compare to those knives.

Or just chuck it and buy a better one.
It is what it is. A cheap trainer. Out of the box was very stiff. A clue should have been that with in a day it loosened up a lot and was already showing dents in the hinges. On second day dropped it and literally the latch and all the screws for the handles popped out . Screws are very small and only found two of them. Even screwing them back in they are very loose. May try to rivet the handles back together or pin a brass dowel in. Or just chuck it and buy a better one.

Not that bad...
Just to be completely honest, I bought these as an add on so I didn't pay full price. I bought 5 because I wanted to practice metal etching. I read the reviews and a lot of people said negative things. Upon delivery, I opened all 5 and everything was intact, just a little loose. I took one apart and put blue loctite on the body and pivot screws. I've been flipping/dropping/launching this trainer across the room (accidentally) and it's holding up pretty good. Nice slab of metal even at full price.

sturdy, and very fluid in motion
Bought this as a gift for my brother. He has mastered the art of butterfly knife training. He says it's swift, sturdy, and very fluid in motion. He let me know that it distributes weight quite nicely. The latch stays put for him when he carries it in his pocket, and is always easy to release when he wants to practice. Solid buy.

BEST BUTTERFLY KNIFE
This is a REALLY great knife... I have dropped it several times (probably 10) and I thought for sure that it would break on the first time just becuz of the cheap price. This knife is super sturdy and has a really nice weight which is ideal for tricks. I was going to buy a more expensive knife after this one so I was very careless with it and that is why I dropped it so many times but it still held up really well... If you are looking for a good butterfly knife to have for a long time, buy this one

use it as a fire starter!
this butterfly trainer has great action and with a little oil it was perfect for balisong training. in addition to flipping it ive been taking it camping and using it as the steel component for fire starting with my bayite ferro rod. it works way better than the steal strikers you find because of the wide 90 degree ridge on the "dull side". and you dont have to scuff up one of your good knives or carry a striking steel.
