Will it still work to lighten the dark color?** A: It’s not recommended for dark hair but I lightened my hair with peroxide and baking soda for an hour with a towel around my hair and in the places where it lightened it up , it was that colored maybe a little darker , but I kept using that color and each time it’s lighter and now it’s completely that color **Q: Why didnt it color my hair barely at all but still succeeded in ruining it completely to the point where i want to die intead of being seen by others?** A: I have been using this product - Féria Midnight Violet (V28) - regularly for years. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last as long as a permanent hair color should. But as far as damaging my hair, this has never done that with mine. It leaves my hair bouncy, shiny and healthier looking than before, as most home hair colors should and do. And this in spite of the fact that my hair is very dry with ends that can be brittle. I’ve used many brands over the years and this is one of the gentlest. Home hair colors tend to be gentler than those used in salons. But, everyone’s hair is different. It could be a reaction from the chemicals in this particular brand and shade with your unique hair. If you are sure nothing else could have caused the damage to your hair and you followed directions carefully my advice would be to avoid using it again. For best results with any home hair color: First, wash and deep condition your hair a couple of days prior to coloring. Never wash your hair the day of coloring. I always wait at least 2 days after washing before I color. The natural oils from your scalp protect and even help the color deeply and more evenly saturate your hair. After coloring wash your hair only in cool to lukewarm water. Don’t use hot water! Also, I’ve found after using the same color for awhile it doesn’t work as well as it did at first. It helps to periodically change up, use a different brand and even color. Any apparent damage to your hair (short of it falling out) is temporary. Human hair is very resilient and will quickly return to a healthy condition. Use a deep conditioner on your hair to help speed that along. And for you, having had my hair damaged by harsh salon products, I understand how upsetting it can be. But this should never have been so traumatizing as to leave you wanting to isolate yourself or die. I see it’s been quite awhile but I believe there may have been some other issue underlying this to cause such distress. You could use some perspective to get insight into what’s really going on. My hair extremely long and thick, I always need 4 boxes when dying my hair.** A: Don't know, but you don't need to put the product on all of you hair each time you color your hair. I have long hair and only put it on the root area and occasionally work it down some what. You are wasting money if you buy 4 boxes each time you color! **Q: What do you think the Champagne Blonde would do to someone with medium light red color?** A: Ok, I know I'm a little late in the game here, so for anyone who's reading this, PLEASE don't listen to Amanda (who responded a while ago to this question.) I don't know where she got her cosmetology license or how long it's been since she got it, but...wow. First, blonde hair dye kits WILL lighten your hair. You absolutely don't need to bleach unless you want to lift your hair more than 2 or 3 levels. Permanent hair dye has come a long way and hydrogen peroxide isn't needed in all blonde hair dye kits. There are other chemicals in these kits that lighten hair. ~Ammonia compounds swell the hair shaft, allowing it to open so the dye gets into the cuticle (permanent hair dyes are NOT deposit only, despite what Amanda said) ~Oxidative compounds, (such and organic and inorganic alkali metal salts) ~ ...and a whole slew of other chemical compounds that will allow the mixture to penetrate the hair shaft, lighten hair and deposit the color to the inner layer of the hair. Also, the kits(for blonde) always come with a 20 volume developer. All developer has hydrogen peroxide (HP) in it. 10 volume = 3% HP 20 volume = 6% HP 30 volume = 9% HP The higher the volume, the higher the lift. If your hair is medium/light red and you want your hair to look like the color on the Champagne Blonde box, you might consider using a 30 volume developer instead of the 20 volume in the box. Using 30 volume requires frequent checking the hair while it's processing to make sure it's not getting too light, but, from my three decades of experience dyeing my own hair from dark blonde with reddish undertones/level 6-7 to a level 8-9 ash blonde using 30 volume ~always~ results in my hair turning out pretty damn close to the color on the box. You can order 30 volume developer from Sally Beauty online and it's cheap...like $6 to $10 bucks. Take the bottle of 20 volume developer out of the box, draw a line that shows how much developer is in it, pour out the 20 volume then refill the bottle up to the line you drew with 30 volume. Two days after coloring, apply a protein conditioning mask to your hair because any time you lighten your hair, your hair gets a little pissed off and needs some extra care.
