Not reliable
Using the 200watt version in a hooded 45 gallon tank. As many have noted the temperature dial is not accurate, so I wasn't expecting trial and error to get the temperature exact. What I wasnt expecting was the drift or equilibration time.My goal is to keep the water 79-80°. I Set this to 79 degrees which got my tank to 76.5° after 24hours. After a few days of trial and error, setting the dial to 83° got the water to reach 79.5°. But for some reason the water went up about 0.5°/week. When it reached 81°, I spent several days turning it down a little at a time. Til I got setting the dial to 81.5° got my temp to 79.5°, stayed there for another week, then slowly dropped 77°.After almost 2 months I officially give up, I put in my tetra 150watt heater, that heater is preset to 78° my temps stay between 77.5° and 78°. I only check the temps 2-3 times a day, maybe this marina heater fluctuates like crazy through the day, I never had a heater that fluctuates this much (including the unbranded cheap HOB that this heater was replacing )

Better than Tetra
I've had so many Tetra heaters end up in an early grave, it was actively driving me to loathe Tetra. Aqueon was similarly disappointing. This is going on 6 months and no heater death yet! I'm hopeful.

It’s not fancy but, it’s lasted 2+ years for me and still going.
It’s decent. I’ve had mine a couple years now. I even took it out the tank and it sat in the shed for a year and now I put it back in and it still works. I’m surprised with the longevity after being in the shed.Adjustment is stiff which is nice so It won’t creep without you knowing but, requires both hands to make sure it don’t pull off the glass when adjusting.

No suction cups.
The heater is working good. The suction cups where missing. I don't see sending the heater back for them is needed.

Evil Angels.
My angels apparently were not satisfied with my older Marina heater through the winter and smacked it up against the glass, breaking off the bottom. I noticed it was broken likely days later, and unplugged it. I was thrilled that the broken Marina heater didn't electrocute my fish -- no matter if they were misbehaving.Adding this replacement and inexpensive marina heater to the tank was quick and easy, already set to the optimum temp. The end has a protective rubber bumper to prevent the evil angels from breaking this one... I can't remember if I removed the last bumper for cleaning and forgot to replace it. With a digital thermometer, the temp in the tank has been consistent for a month now and I'm very satisfied with the performance.Tank details... 32 gallon fresh, external filtration, marina heater.

Does heat
it does heat but it’s around 5ish degrees off…i’m only using it in a 20 gallon aquarium and have it on 84 degrees and it will only keep the water around 771/2 -78..i wouldn’t recommend it.

Works great!
I bought this to replace a similar heater that lasted about 5 years. It works great and maintains the heat in my 55 gallon tank well. Only had it a short while, but so far so good.

Great for my Betta
Works perfectly for my 5 gallon planted Betta tanks. I have several tanks and with this heater and no issues.

Thermostat broke, cooked all of my fish and killed everything in my tank overnight
This heater is cheap. And for a reason. I bought this about two years ago. Well last week I came down in the morning to find my tank water completely white, stinking, and my thermometer clocked the temperature at 52 Celsius. It was so hot the water was steaming when I opened the lid. All snails and plants killed too. After cleaning out the tank, giving all of the snails and fish their funerals-at-sea, cleaning everything, I tested the heater by turning it back on in the empty tank. The orange indicator light never came on, but it started and stayed heating until I unplugged it and binned it.A higher quality heater (I have now learned) have “kill switches” that stop heating if the thermostat breaks. I’ve purchased a more expensive but highly recommended Aquael heater to replace this lethal heat rod. This heater is ugly as well. Now that I’ve replaced it with a different and better one (smaller, slimmer, thermometer included) my tank looks much better. This Marina needs to be placed diagonally in your tank and is quite intrusive to the view and look of your aquarium. Since it is only glass and has no protective covering, you cannot have any plants too close to it or they will most likely die from the heat. And since it needs to be diagonal..well that eats up a lot of real estate at the back of your tank that you can’t easily hide with plants.I see a lot of the reviews for this are good, but I thought it was good until last week. Buying one of these is playing Russian roulette with your tank - will never trust this brand ever again.

Good product
It runs a little warm but overall works. Keep an eye on the water temp as it can climb beyond what you set it at.
