Works accurately but slower than I hoped
I purchased this for my hot tub but then decided to figure out which drinking water is actually the best pH.This tester is accurate but takes about 35+ seconds for it to show a stable result.I give it a 4-star for it's relatively larger size and slow read stable read time. For those of you curious about the drinking water results:Samsung Fridge Filter = 7.6Langenburg = 7.42Core = 7.29Glacier 45 = 7.26Fiji = 7.18Life Water = 6.85Voss = 6.07Dasani = 6.06Aquafina 5.79

Junk is all I can say.
Bought this thinking it was going to be a good deal, but boy was I wrong..I have a feeling that the bulb is no good. My suggestion for these companies is to make sure these are packaged with the storage solution. They have it in print to store with the solution, but they don't have it packaged that way. So as these units sit in the warehouse waiting for someone to purchase them, they go bad. When I got this, I 1st tested it in some tap water. I got a reading that I knew wasn't accurate. I then calibrated it and tried it again. Still didn't look accurate. Tried it again and got a different reading that wasn't accurate.I ordered a more expensive unit and did a quick comparison. This unit couldn't give me the same reading twice. The more expensive brand was always accurate..Well, to sum this up.. I've had those yellow rectangular PH meters in the past that cost slightly less. Those didn't have an auto calibration feature, but they were more accurate.Oh.. bottom line is that I got less than what I paid for when it came to functionality. I hope others faired better and I just got a dud..

Mine wasn't brand new
Unfortunately I clearly have received a used meter, the batteries were installed and completely dead. The instructions had also been written on. Most frustrating is the fact that I cannot seem to get the instrument to calibrate, assuming that is why it was returned by the previous owner.

POS
worst chinese POS i ever bought.. says water proof all over the SOB, but it is not! after it started to fail during the first time use i unscrewed the bottom and the whole meter was full of water. im competent and I am not stupid ... however this ph meter is incompetent and fails to meet the demand of even a first time use. note: i only submerged the tip of the meter so it had no reason to suck up a bunch of water.

Takes FOREVER to stabilize!! you get what you pay for!
Spend the extra cash and get a name brand PH pen. (apera or blue labs). I dropped my Apera pen in my hydro bucket by accident and it ruined it. Bought this hoping to save some money. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! If you're using this for hydroponics, DO NOT GET THIS!Calibrated just fine, and quick. checked a few bottles of distilled water and spring water, readings seemed perfect!Next day I went to use it for my hydro setup and when I tried to check the pH of the water, the temp and pH reading just bounced all over the place. went way high, way low, stabilized around what the pH was, then jumped around all over the place. It did this for a good 3-4 minutes. Then it just stopped and read what the pH was. (checked with a cheap $8 pen I have for emergency use). Added Ph down and it read like it should.Shut off and put cover on. 8 hours later I went to see if it would read correctly. Did the exact same thing again. Reading all over the place for AT LEAST 4-5 minutes. stabilized and fine. Shut off and soaked in distilled water for an hour. checked again, same thing..Don't waste your money. save up and get a better one if you need fast accurate readings. Or hell, save even more money and get a yellow $8 pen (any brand, they are all the same) and youll get even quicker readings, while saving over half off this junk. Honestly, this thing is so much worse then a yellow $8 pen.

JUnk. ph wanders despite calibrating repeatedly.
I use a lot of ph meters and thought I'd give this one a try. I noticed right away it seemed to mysteriously drift by a third to half a point randomly despite hitting it's calibrated 6.86. So I dunked it next to 3 other meters.... it repeatedly was randomly way off. Bye Felicia. Returned it.

Mostly ok
Read very very slowly seems to need recalibration ever 4th or 5th use. Which was better than the 15 dollars one.Waterproof is iffy... Although it still works I can hear water inside it.Since I only had it a month I can't give more that 3 stars due to the water inside and slow reading. So after roughly 40 uses I can no longer calibrate it It just shows constantly moving numbers.I have to give it a fail as there were no up side to it.

Excellent value
Very impressed with these. Reads faster than my blue lab and more precise. I have 2 and they are consistent. For calibration (required) I suggest buying a bottle of 6.86 pH buffer. I haven't used them for long to see how they last but so far I am more impressed with these than I have been with other cheap pH pens I have tried in the last 3 or 4 years (I've tried lots).
