My sons loves this brush! My boys  have different lengths of hair and it works great for both...just like the one their barber uses. They have natural curl to their hair already however wanted the look to be drastic with the twist.This sponge definitely works! Twisted his hair the very first use. He immediately used the brush to give him the "look" and it worked! I would have to say it worked a little to well- he used this product a couple of times a day! Not sure if that's what you are used to do but-he did! And his hair looked the same! So I would have to say it does the job! Just use gentle circular strokes and you can achieve perfect twists.Of course the more he uses it the more the dramatic his curls become. Plus he doesn't use with any product and it still works!!! Sometimes he does however finish off with a shine spray after he's done with the sponge. But this sponge also worked great with wet and dry hair. The twist can last about 3 days.The brush was kinda stiff as most sponges are when you first open them. I like it is thick and not flimsy. The included comb will gently remove tangles as it goes through the hair. So glad we bought this as my sons is super happy and loves they love their new look. Received fast and well packaged. If this doesn't work for you then you're doing it wrong! Trust me, I would know. I first purchased another more expensive brand sponge and gave that a try only to become frustrated that I wasn't getting the desired curl pattern. What was the problem? A combination of not having long enough hair and patience! After a few more centimeters of growth, along with some hair lotion and gel...and boom! The curls appeared like magic. Don't be so quick to blame the sponge if it's not working out. Anyway, I purchased this cheaper alternative because I noticed that I needed two sponges..one for home and one for my office (I frequently shower after workouts at work which sometimes include hair washing). I honestly didn't have high expectations of this sponge due to it's price and iffy reviews, but honestly I think it works a little better than my pricier one. So now the other one will become my spare for work. I was a little apprehensive about how the "lumpy" side would work but I noticed that it gave me a quicker, and more aggressive coil pattern. Go with the traditional hole side for a less aggressive pattern. The larger holes probably also played a roll in why this particular one worked better than my other sponge. You really can't go wrong with this sponge. Just make sure that you have at least a half inch of hair when you try it out.

I think the issue with many of these sponges, no matter the manufacturer, is that they tend to tear your hair after continuous use. I don't think this sponge has solved that problem. I find that longer parts of my hair -- the crown or front -- gets extremely tangled up in the grooves of the sponge. This becomes very frustrating because I don't want a matted look and I don't want to spend a lot of time untangling knots. So I can only use this on the back, nape or sides where my hair is much shorter. This isn't a bad product but it's not something I'm inclined to use everyday. I only use it for the purposes stated or when I want a very defined look and don't mind wrangling with the tight curls. You have to tread very carefully with this product if you want to hold onto your hair and not watch it disintegrate or clump up.

No complaints. My 10-year old son loves the look it gives him. He wets hair, adds some curling cream and a bit of eco gel. And boom, instant hair-do that he has achieved on his own. Going to grow out his hair more to enhance the look. I'll be buying another for younger brother who wants to look like his big cool brother now.

I only had the product for about a week I use it on my son and myself. Since my hair is a little longer its does a good job when i want to do a quick wash and go. It saves me alot of time instead of doing twist out manually

So when my brother asked me to buy these, I thought he was crazy. what the hell was he going to use this for? I soon found out and I must be honest. it does the job perfectly well! it twists his hair up very nicely and when it's wet, it dries up like that and makes him look...*clears throat* quite stylish. My elder brother saw him and asked me to buy him one as well! Hah! So I would definitely recommend these!Cheers!

Amazing. I am at a complete lost of words to how incredible this is. I had been stuck with either shaving my head bald or growing a fro...but I have always want mini braids but never had time or money to do so. Today I got my wish. At first it wasn't working and I thought I had wasted my money but after realizing I needed something to hold the curls and the only thing I had was my son's gorilla snot gel I thought I what did I have to lose so I tried a little..also some olive oil moisturizer and a little water ( don't use water you only end up having to blow dry dry again.) it started working. It is important to move it through your hair in the same direction on both sides but once I realize how to do it I now have a head full of mini braids. My only regret is not finding out about this sooner.

When I first ordered this product I knew it was going to be a good buy. I see barbers using it and even my friends. It was a nice size and you could easily stick it in your backpack when on the go and you need to get your twists on lock. I did have one issue with it but it may be because of my hair type. When I used it after putting some type of grease in my hair it worked but the flat side would break off little pieces and they would stay in my hair. When I first found this out I got scared because I thought it was my hair falling out. So I would rub the top of my head to see how much was coming off and it was a large amount of sponge. After a while the sponge deteriorated and I could only use the wavy side. I'm not bashing this product because it is a great choice if you want to start locking up your hair. I would just suggest not going too fast when circling around that way you prevent the deterioration of the sponge.

My son is 7 years old, mixed race with tight, curly hair. When his hair is at a short length (no. 1 or no. 2) this is quite a useful item to give his hair some symmetrical, styled curls. With the right styling gel, it has a good look. Would reccomend for the price

Think this particular sponge would be useful if your hair length is a level 4 and below for the curl effect, I'm currently above an 8 and the holes were too small to give me the desired effect.

Arrived quickly. Perfect size for children and adults (I have an 8 year old). Gives instructions if unsure how to use which is helpful and shows tells you what kind of curls/coils each side will give. Love this and my son hunks he looks so cool now!

Bit smaller than I expected but really works for good results make sure you add enough holding gel or pomade to your hair
