I dropped my phone in the ocean (cracked screen so it wasn't waterproof!) and when I got it open, the taptic engine (among other things) was a mess, so I replaced it. The vibration of notifications only works about 50% of the time, but otherwise my phone works (with many replacement parts), so it comes down to: is the taptic engine just for vibrations? sort of? so it only sometimes works. Not a big loss though, overall. Maybe I'll try the second one to see if the first was just wonky. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was skeptical, but it worked out fine *by B***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2019* I got the 2-pack of replacement taptic engines. The ones I received looked like they were in rough shape cosmetically (scratched and marked up), but after installing the first one, all the vibration on my phone is working again!The repair wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Along with the taptic engine I bought the cheapest iPhone 7 repair tool kit I could find on Amazon and it had everything I needed.
