Excellent Set of Four Custard Cups Made of Borosilicate Glass
The custard cups in this MARINEX SET OF FOUR 8-1/2 OUNCE GLASS CUSTARD CUPS are conveniently sized for single servings of baked custard, pudding, or ice cream. (They are slightly larger than the small Pyrex custard cups that many cooks are familiar with.) These are genuine Marinex custard cups, with the usual markings, including "Made in Brazil". They are not absolutely uniform in shape but they stack fine in my kitchen cabinet. For some time now, I've been replacing my Pyrex glass cookware with the more expensive Marinex glass cookware, because the Marinex products are made from borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass, which has a slight green tinge, is less susceptible to thermal shock than the tempered soda lime glass used by Pyrex. (Years ago, Pyrex dishes were also made of borosilicate glass.)I feel safer using glass cookware made with borosilicate glass, because some of my newer Pyrex dishes have shattered when they were removed from the oven and placed on a room-temperature, ceramic-tile countertop. (Now, of course, I always place glass cookware on a hotpad or oven mitt to avoid thermal shock.) I've been very happy with all of the Marinex products I've previously purchased, which include pie plates and baking dishes.

Thin rims
These are pretty but the edges are much thinner than my old Pyrex custard cups. Too fragile. One of the four arrived broken.

Appears to have been returned once already.
The top bowl in the package was chipped, and even had a handwritten note in the bowl that says 'This one is chipped'!I will throw that one out and have a set of 3, since returning then is inconvenient.

Not as good as Mom's old Pyrex
In the image of the product provided here, these look much more substantial than the product we received. These are much thinner than Mom's old Pyrex custard cups, even though the image makes them appear as similar.Bad news: at least one of these arrived here shattered to smithereens. The manufacturer doesn't pack these well for shipping. Each set of four is stacked and shrink-wrapped together with only one small sheet of thin film separating each glass item. These are then placed into a small bubble-wrap bag. That might (maybe) be okay if the shipping department in whatever warehouse these came from knew how to pack the box they were shipping in. Unfortunately, that didn't happen in this case. The packing inside the box didn't have nearly enough air-packs --it had a strip of five, of which only four were inflated. Consequently, this stack of cups was free to roll around inside the too-big box. Somewhere along the route to us, this box must have been dropped or otherwise abused --even though the box itself had zero visible damage! Or maybe these were broken in the warehouse and the picker didn't even notice. But the bottom line was, at least one of these custard cups arrived completely shattered. I didn't open the shrink-wrap to see if one, two or three were broken (probably only the bottom one was broken).Update: I finally got brave enough to de-package the set with the broken glass. The three at the top were intact. I washed them and dried them by hand, and then attempted to stack these on a shelf. But they wouldn't sit straight, no matter which one was on top, bottom or middle. Each of these are warped out of round a little bit.Reason for 3 stars:Minus one because they don't stack evenly. Every one is warped. Hold one up so that the front edge is at eye level, and see how both front and back of rim will not line up as you look across them. No wonder they won't stack evenly.Minus 1/2 for "thinner than Mom's" & thinner than the image here looks like.Minus one: Manufacturer doesn't package these for safe shipping.Total should be 2 1/2 but they are kind-of understatedly pretty, so forget the 1/2.Amazon was very efficient about shipping a replacement set.

PERFECT
I broke my last "custard cup" and needed to purchase more as these multi task for me when I am cooking. That is when I use them the most. I am very pleased with them. They are substantial and a perfect size, a little larger than my old ones, and I don't think these will break easily. What I am pleased about is they are large enough for me to use with my small whisk.

Great custard cups
Not the size I wanted, but I couldn't find 6oz borosilicate glass custard cups. I try to only buy borosilicate glass items when I can. All my measuring cups and drinking glasses are borosilicate.

Very nice custard cups
I've used Pyrex custard cups for decades, and they always worked quite well, but when I needed to replace some, I saw these on Amazon, and decided to give them a try. The design is attractive, and they seem well made, and not too delicate. If I buy more in the future, this would be my first choice.
