The caps on the base screw off & it releases a small mounting plate in the back so it can be securely hung (see last pic). I know it sounds like a “Captain Obvious” moment as that is the intended function, but the caps on one of the lights wouldn’t budge AT ALL at first & seemed nonfunctional. Which is why I then expected a mounting plate as opposed to the mounting bracket. As a last ditch effort before returning, I tried using a stripping screwdriver & voila! I do feel a little stupid for not trying this in the first place.... Mom brain, I guess.I kept the lights & am now giving this item/company 4 stars. I deducted a star due to the cosmetic damage pictured.Received my order as promised.... that’s about the only positive thing that I can write. The lights did not include mounting brackets so I cannot even hang them unless I go to the hardware store. So these DO NOT include everything that one needs to hang them! Both of the lamps have scratches as if they were used already & the other has paint flaws.
