Highly recommend for small dogs, you don't have to put it on too tight-works great & is safe
these work for small dogs! I have a Dachshund, a Terrier mix and a Chorkie-all between 7-11 lbs. These have long bands so you can make them roomy enough, and they have a great + or - sign on them... if you want it to be more sensitive to barks, press + sign, if your dog is pretty quiet, you can turn it down by pressing the - sign. my dogs don't even have to have batteries in theirs - if you put it on them, they get quiet. be sure to not put on too tight, as it will not feel good to their throat. Also, I recommend you do buy the additional batteries, the batteries lasted a little over 2 months, with my dogs wearing them 3-4 days a week and then a break for good behavior. Would definitely recommend- if one of my dogs is wearing but not the other two (even though they each have their own), and if it beeps, they all three get quiet. It works wonders for little dogs that like to bark at passing neighbors or playing children. Love them! And they don't shock them, they just make a noise and it gets more intense with a little vibrate if you have to turn it up. Also, has an auto-shutoff for safety.

Terrified my dog, did not stop barking
This did not work for me. I'm also not sure about the claims of it being humane. I put it on my insane little barker, and on the lowest level, she completely ignored it. So I put it one level up. The next time she barked, it made the noise so I could tell it was working, but instead of stopping her barking, it made her shriek in fear, so it just kept zapping her. There is no safety shut off on this thing, she kept screaming, and then she started rolling around on the floor, and it just kept going off. I was trying to wrangle her and get it off, but it took me awhile because by then she was going really crazy and biting in fear. Finally got it off her. The thing was going the whole time, never stopped. She shook for almost an hour, and her heart was racing. I don't believe this item is safe. It also did NOT stop her barking, she was barking the whole time and kept barking after I took it off. All it did was terrify her, but she just got even louder. It did not LOOK safe or humane to my eyes.

Easy to use collar that will help train your dog to stop barking so much
Good bark trainer and worked well for our 6 month old puppy. You can adjust the sensitivity and sometimes we would have to mess around with that a little or adjust the fit to get it to work consistently. I find that with collars like these you need to have a snug fit but obviously not too tight where it's uncomfortable for your dog. If the collar is too loose it won't recognize her barks or won't recognize them consistently. Our dog would bark a lot out the window....someone walks by, the mailmain, salesmen, a balloon floating around, whatever is out of the ordinary and catches her attention. With this collar she would bark a few times and get beeped (first two times are warning beeps before any correction is actually applied) then she would stop. It really did work pretty well for the most part and she definitely barked a lot less with this collar on than when she wasn't wearing it.Our only negative experience was when she was wearing it out in the yard and a Utility worker or someone like that went into an adjoining neighbors yard...she barked through the first few levels of correction until she hit a level that must have not felt very good and she let out a loud yelp before stopping suddenly. It wasn't pleasant for me to witness her yelp in pain but she was fine and it didn't hurt her once she stopped barking. After some time with this collar (about 6 months of use) I ultimately decided that a remote collar was a better solution for us and I picked up one that allows me to beep, vibrate, or shock on demand (beep and vibrate have been enough so far to continue the training I started with the Bark Collar) but if you're looking for a "hands free" user experience then this collar is a good entry level product to see if you like it without spending too much $$$ on a really expensive one. Collar says it's not water proof so you shouldn't use it in rain or wet snow situations....we did use it outside in all kinds of damp weather and it worked fine but just not in a heavy downpour, etc. I wouldn't suggest leaving this on any dog unattended though but that is just my opinion.

Finally! Peaceful house with no incessant barking.
Ordered this for my dachshund, she was barking at everything: a kid riding a bike outside, a leaf falling from a tree...you name it.Other reviews for this product were good so I ordered it. The collar arrived earlier than expected. All you have to do is put is adjust the strap, put it the battery, and it's all set.First time trying it out she barked once, got the first beep. Barked again, got the second longer beep. She kept barking and then got the small shock. That was all, and now her barking is very controlled, I don't have to do anything. If a neighbor comes to the door, she barks but after that first tone or second beep, she stops. She really doesn't like the sound of the warning tone. It's a perfect situation because she still alerts us if someone is here but then she quiets down with our reassurance that everything is fine. I don't have to mess around with the collar, it works perfectly on its own.I would order this again if needed and have already recommended it to several people. Friends and family comment on how quiet, relaxed and happy my dog is now.
