Jandy 7235 180-Dgree, 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Check Valve

The maintains the prime on the pump and provides a nice visual of the flow.

Used to replace a non-cleanable backflow valve that got sand in it when the filter failed. Mounting it vertically could be a problem as the valve uses a spring to close the flap and the instructions claim it won't work if mounted "upside down" with water column "pushing" the valve open. I did not want to extensively modify the existing plumbing and gambled that it would seal if mounted vertically with only a foot of water to push against the spring. It works great and the spring "feels" strong enough to support even more water.I had two of these valves installed when the sand filter failed. Both continued to function and showed no sign of wear on the gasket or sealing face.

Pool contractor wanted $300 to replace this. I literally just bought this and took out the screws in this one and my old one that was leaking and swapped the new valve into the old house because I didn't want to cut the PVC pipe. I took a couple of pictures of the old housing with the new valve in it. Took 15 minutes. Works great.

It works great so far

I tried to save money by replacing the original Jandy valve with a 1.5 “ check valve. The 1.5 hp pump couldn’t suck it fully open, restricting the Water flow by 1/2. After Cutting everything back out and installing the above valve, the return pressure to the pool is now flowing perfectly. Lesson learned!
