Very easy to use too much.
You don't want a pinch of this stuff for a fish. Just 1-2 sprigs. The scent, flavor, and colorant potency is very high. If grab a pinch of like 20 fibers, you will just overpower a dish, turn it orange as well as your fingers, and waste good saffron. This is something one uses just a touch of to set a hot dish off with an indescribable something. Not quite rice vinegar, not exactly honey, not all the way there to petrichor. Somewhere between all those things. Earthy for sure. But hard to pin down. I wouldn't say it makes a dish objectively better in flavor. It makes a dish more interesting. It pairs well with cumin, curry, paprika, mace, and coriander. I'd avoid pairing with nutmeg or cinnamon. Consider steeping and using the water as an option as apposed to just adding the raw herb. If you grind it, do so with a salt or sugar (other wise you'll just crush and smear it against you're mortar and pestle).

Superb Quality Saffron (5 Star)
I found Redsaff Royal Quality Saffron truly the purest and Highest quality than the Spanish saffron i was using for many years. The Color is so strong and the taste and fragrance is much much better. The other good thing about this Brand is that 99.9% of the stigmas are all red no yellowish which indicates its purity and quality and makes every penny worth because you get the real saffron as it is described by the seller not Cheap or Fake. When it comes to Saffron i consider my self a saffron guru who can easily diffrenciate a fake and low quality from a real and good quality and i can honestly say that this Redsaff Afghan saffron is the Finest i have ever used.Recommend it for those who are looking for a real deal!

Best Saffron I have encountered!!!
I haven't cooked with it yet but MAN, this is the best smelling Saffron I have ever come across. Much better and much more then Penzy's. Can't wait to cook up something with it.I cooked with it now and all I can say is it is the best. First recipe I tried suggested heating it in oil then let the oil set over night then you can use it. I noticed doing it this way there was very little flavor or Yellow color to the oil so it didn't turn out like I expected. However the next time I heated it in water and WOW what a different. It turned the water a wonderful fragrant infusion!! I used it to cook some rice in and again WOW what wonderful flavored rice with that nice rich yellow color. I have purchased saffron before from a very popular spice store and it doesn't even come close to being as good or as much quantity in the jar. Some price but this jar had much more!Highly recommended!

Its OK, but nowhere close to the best as they claim.
Yes, this is better than the bargain brands but no where close to what they claim - the best. Smells good, color is bright and aroma is above average. I have been regularly using saffron for the last 25 years and always on the look out for the best quality. The best so far I have come across in the last 7 years is the coupe quality saffron sold by Costco online. That aroma and color will blow away this one. Costco also includes lab analysis report (done in NYC) with every packet and I never got anything less than 230. The threads of Costco brand are twice as big, look way more healthier, the aroma is far more intense, the color is about the same and the price is slightly better than this one. I tried this one out and I am done with it. While this saffron is a keeper but nowhere close to Costco brand.

Has the Most Beautiful Scent of Saffron, High Quality!
First, I bought the 3 oz. size of saffron here and it comes in a beautiful re-usable glass jar in a thick red silky gift bag with a drawstring tie. After opening the jar there was the most beautiful scent of saffron coming from it. Bright red in color. This is quite a bit here for the price. Good saffron will not be cheap as it's a treasured spice with so many uses both culinary and medicinal. I've added this to rice and a few other dishes with much satisfaction. Great distinct saffron flavor. A little goes a long way. I've tried a few different saffrons and this one is pretty high in quality. Lower quality saffron will be less in flavor and scent. Won’t have any problems purchasing this saffron again when needed.

If someone like appreciate quality then this is your Saffron.
I am a private chef for almost 16 years and based on my experience I can tell this is one of the finest saffron I have used so far. I actually heard about the Afghan saffron and its superior quality amongst its rival producers like iran and spain on Shark tank and decided to give it a shot because I didnt even know Afghanistan is one of the producer of saffron specially the highest quality saffron and undoubtedly it is the premium quality. Also it came inside a beautiful red golden velvet pouch which can be a luxury gift for a friend and family on thanks giving day, Christmas or and other special occasions.

Excellent product! I soaked some saffron with hot water
Excellent product! I soaked some saffron with hot water. Very nice golden color appeared. So I drop more into a chinese earthern pot with fire heating . The red pigment of Saffron also dissolved into the water. Since earthern pot can release infra-red light to extract all the useful thing from saffron which are good to health in Chinese. As saffron will make your kidney strong , so kidney can secrete EPO to make our red blood cell to mature to carry more oxygen. Good Product. Thanks!I will use it mix with Rooibos(enhance yang qi[cell energy,AMPK activated}), Gynostemma pentaphyllum (enhance qi [more oxygen uptake, AMPK activated]), Eucommia ( enhance your kidney & liver function) .

Looks like saffron, smells like saffron but it is not saffron
Lacking flavour, lacking in the ability to colour rice, cream sauces, butter sauces or potatoes.I used 4-5 times what I would normally use for an over-the-top cream sauce and it came out just meh.I have been buying lots of different saffron for comparative tasting and this comes dead last. The rice in the first photo was cooked in water with over 60 threads crumbled into it and is pale yellow without much taste, the second photo is a different brand with about 15 threads and the entire kitchen was filled with the aroma. In each case I used one cup of rice and two quarts of water, salted, and boiled for 14 minutes.
