POWERLINK PL-18N Hermes Wireless 802.11b/g/n High Power 300Mbps 2T2R USB 2.0 Adapter 28dBm w/High Gain Dual 9dBi Dipole Antenna Improving 10X Signal Reception and Speed (1000mW high power output)

The only thing I have to compare the PL-18N to is the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 in my 5 year old laptop. And my 4 year old Huawei phone.I'm using window 7 home. Install easy, have not installed the utility program just the latest driver download from premiertek's web site. The speeds I'm going to quote are from the (wireless network connection status) window in windows 7. Using a xfinity wifi hot spot from the business behind my apartment complex. The distance from the back wall of apartment to wall of business is 25 yards.The business's router could be any where from 25 yards to up to 50 yards away. Using laptop, top speeds 130Mbps, average 39Mbps, would continually drop to 25 and 19 Mbps. Laptop would continually go to limited access and internet would be unusable. Using PL-18N, averaging 117 to 130Mbps, lowest ever drops to is 78Mbps and I've never dropped the connection, not once! EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR! (real world speeds are a consistent 15 to 16 Mbps never, never going below 10).I have access to a centurylink wifi connection from a actionet Q-1000 router (very old cheap router) located in another apartment complex. The distance between the two apartment complexes, with business previously stated sitting between is approximately 65 yards. The laptop would connect with a quality of 1 to 3 bars never drop the connection. (real world speed of 1 Mbps or less, with occasional speeds reaching 5 to 7Mbps). The PL18 shows a connection quality of 4 bars however NO INCREASE IN SPEED! Runs consistently at 1Mbps or less. I did not move the adapter around to different locations to try and better, it simply sits on my desk.Living in apartment complex I see over 20 wifi networks. After installing PL18 I see only a additional 5 networks. I question the 2000 meter range claim. All the networks show an increase in quality, 4 to 5 bars.Overall I'm happy with the product. From My two experience's, using a newer router the consistency and speed significantly increased at a modest distance. No improvement at a greater distance and older router.I like the length of the usb cable provided. The big blue flashing light (nothing a post-it note didn't cure).

this has better range than the alfa awuso36nhrv.2 adaptor I have better speeds and long range love it
