The Official iBooks Author Certification Program Study Guide Paperback – September 24, 2014

Outside of my real job, I am an amateur author and decided to check out the iBooks Author Program. Occasionally, I get paid to help friends and associates convert their existing works to digital formats. Now, I am working on learning the iBooks Author program. Having downloaded the program, I decided that I need some help in learning the software. I went looking for resources. This printed book was one of the few that I found. So I purchased the "iBooks Author Certification Program Study Guide" in the print-on-demand format. It is a real gem.The book has been immensely helpful to me. The chapters are laid out in a logical order, with clear precise prose. I have found I learn best by example, and so the sample exam questions and corresponding solutions guide helped me quite a bit. My suggestion to the author would be adding a bit more meat at the beginning. More information on the certification program and more examples of specific questions within each topical area while increasing the difficulty level would've been good.My skill level, speed and comfort with the program have increased tremendously. With the $30 credit included with the book, I am planning on taking the Certification in November. There is no way I would personally have been ready without this book. I am doing well on the Sample Test, (included with answers) so I should be ready soon. Undoubtedly, the IBA Certification will set me apart from my peers. I believe this program (with the recent upgrade) is going to change the way we interact with books. I want to be a part of that.The iBooks version was not available when I purchased this product, but yesterday, I found it in the iTunes Bookstore. I will buy it too, because it is the perfect example of the interactivity of the product which I am trying to learn.

This is a beefy, quality resource for those who use iBooks Author and absolutely essential for those like myself who are planning to become iBooks Author Certified.The good: very clearly written, closely tied into the iBooks Author Certification Program itself, and the solutions guide for the included sample exam has a lot of hand-holding as it walks you, the reader, through each question on the sample exam. You can learn a lot about iBooks Author by taking the sample exam and reading through the solutions, by itself.The bad: not a lot. I love the guide but I did deduct one star for the iBooks version not being available as promised, along with the fact that the guide could stand to have slightly more organization. A table of contents at the front and index at the back would be nice for future revisions.The ugly: nothing. This thing's great.Buy with confidence, even if you're not getting iBooks Author Certified, and you're just looking to learn the program. This won't teach you the program from scratch, but you will learn a tremendous amount by using this book. The iBooks Author certification is exciting and without this guide, I don't know of any other resource that would've helped me understand what I needed to do and learn to pass the test.
