Age of Empires II: Gold Edition

If you don't know Age of Empires II it's time for you to know it! This game is amazing, but take your time to know the game. The 1st CD, the Age of Kings is the best, the other one not as much fun. The only thing I warn the Mac users is that there might be some compatibility problem with Lion. It worked perfectly well with my Snow Leopard but it stopped working when I updated to Lion. It's been a while since I tried again to install the game again, but maybe the Lion update now allows it to play this game. If you're a Lion user check it out before buying. I didn't rate it less then 5 because the game is great and it's not Microsoft's fault for it not working because the Lion update made by Apple is who screwed it up. Hopefully it will work soon!

This game does not work with MAC, is a fraud

This particular CD has glitches in the software, to where sometimes it's missing functions. Otherwise a standard and straightforward game.

When purchasing this game, I was aware that it had some problems that could come with it. I played Age of Empires first edition when I was in middle school, and back then graphics were terrible, but we didn't know the difference. If you're looking at this game and expecting great graphics, then maybe you should look elsewhere. For those who have grown up playing this game, you know it's not about the graphics, it's about combating cultures and building communities!I had some trouble getting it to work on my iMac when I first installed it, but it worked pretty easily on my MacBook. When trying to play multiplayer, I had to do some research and problem solving to deal with some issues that we had. It would kick one or both members off of the game within just a minute or two of the game starting. And I'm honestly not sure what exactly we did to get it to finally work. I'm definitely not a computer whiz, but I know we had to create a connection between both computers so they would recognize and share with each other. We still connect using a network cable to ensure we aren't kicked out of a game because of losing our sync with each other. If you have steady internet, I'm sure it would work a little smoother, but my internet works great at times and then slows down to next to nothing the next minute.Despite the trouble we had getting it to work initially, it was totally worth it. We mostly play multiplayer between our two computers, and we love it. We've even ventured out to playing GameRanger games with family and friends. It's a fun game that I would share with just about anyone, but give yourself some time for trouble shooting after installing.

Age of Empires II, Gold Edition is a fun and exciting game. It is very versatile, has lots of great features, game types, civilizations, and tons of in-game complex strategies, units, technologies, and buildings. Although the graphics are not nearly as good as modern RTS games, it still has an epic feeling to it (the same also goes with the music). Key features include: historical campaigns and new historical single scenarios, pro-level recorded games that come with the product (great for improving your strategies), and the addicting Random Map games. Please note that I haven't tried the multiplayer, but but I believe it's through GameRanger, so it should be good. I had this for PC, and now that I'm a Mac, I had to get it.Other pros:Scenario editor is easy to useThe Conqueror's expansion pack is included, pus Gold Edition contentOther cons:Graphics/music are outdated by now in their qualityNeed to re-map some hotkeys if you don't have a full keyboard (such as if you're on a laptop).

Doesn't work on my Mac!

I got this game back in April and i have to say im very pleased with it. It came in a great package and works perfect on my computer. The only thing bad i can really say about this game is that it can take up a lot of your time :). Excellent game to play!

My fiancee and I play this on multi-player. It works great for the most part, but every once in a while, it will disconnect and that is the end of the game. We cannot both rejoin the game (even if it saved itself, or we saved it). It is weird, it says it is working, but it just never relinks. For the most part though, it is good.Update: Does not work on Mac Lion (10.7.3). Bummer =-(
