Basics Fashion Design 01: Research and Design

A basic book on ways to gather and express your ideas. Not super in depth, but provides many basic materials on how to apply ideas to design, such as color theory, drawing, creating concept boards, etc.

This is a great little book which I often pick up and look thru again and again. Photos are good, text is easy to follow and it is informative for anyone entering into the fashion industry, even in NZ.

I was so excited to recieve my product. As a college student especially a fashion major I get work right away. So I was really happy when my book came a couple days even with the holiday. Since I am a college student she shipped with more urgency. Very Greatful!

Every fashion designer should read this book! Also who want to simple stay in the fashion world!I enjoyed it very much, easy to read!

good book-love the info on keeping a sketchbook and seeking inspiration.

Nice and clear book, very easy to read with a lot of images accompanieing the text.There's a broad scope of subjects covered in the book which makes it especially usable for everyone new in fashion or just starting up. It doesn't provide very much in-depth new information for the experienced fashion designer, so I would especially recommend this book to students, people interested in a career in fashion or people who are just starting to design.

I'm just starting studying fashion design and looking for some good books about it. fortunately i found one "basic fashion design:research and design". Really a good book specially for beginners. it give insight on how to begin research and to actually begin designing.It feature a lot of case studies and sketches by actual student and some professional designers. Any one studying fashion design will benefit on this book so much, and maybe someday will be famous.

Brilliant book, particularly for fashion and textiles students but also just gives a boost for your attitude/ approach toward research. has a lot of interesting ideas and exercises and is a good size for carrying around with you.

Basically if you struggle with trying to collect your ideas and research together for sketchbooks and moodboards this is an excellent guide. For fashion design it can be difficult to compile your research into a sketchbook as some people find it limiting but this book makes the whole process exciting and easy, with examples of sketchbooks and designers work. It shows you where to start and the different ways of getting and presenting your research. It really is AMAZING.

I used 2 main books for my fashion design course, this one getting used the most. everyone on my course had one. it was actually on our 'must buy' list that the uni gave to us. highly informative and useful. you WILL wear this one out!!
