Bossy Brocci's Big Science 2: Atomic Structure, Elements, Isotopes & Ions: Graphic Organizers, Assessment & Inquiry for Atomic Structure, Elements, Isotopes, and Monatomic Ions

I'm a former Science teacher and current Head of Science Curriculum & Purchasing for my District's various schools.I found Bossy Brocci's `Big Science' workbooks after over-hearing another district's Math HCP rave about how using the author's MATH workbooks had improved HIS district's student skills AND standardized test scores.After a lot of Googling, I found out the author's not only a classroom science (and math) teacher with massive science college & teaching experience . . . he's also kicking butt against tougher odds than most science teachers out there.So, at the beginning of the 2013-2014 year, I took a chance and purchased `Bossy Brocci's Big Science' 1 through 4 for our District's Elementary, Middle and High schools.And . . . we came up a winner!Teachers at almost every grade level - 3rd through 11th I think - included `Big Science' worksheets in their lessons and units last year . . . and saw big gains in student comprehension AND TEST SCORES. And now, nearly halfway into THIS schoolyear, my teachers say they're inheriting kids who have retained more of what they learned the previous year.Our teachers are producing better science students & test scores since we adopted `Big Science.' And yes . . . our Math HCP has since bought the Bossy Brocci Math series for this year.I've since purchased `Big Science' 5 & 6 (Density & Water) for our District - and various teachers have been using them and reporting that their students seem to be "getting it" more and testing better than the previous year.Of course, as science teachers, we all know it's not a controlled experiment, because both the student AND curriculum delivery variables have changed. BUT I'm betting that `Big Science' has something to do with our improved skills and TEST scores.This author has ingeniously enabled all students - from Elementary through Middle and High School - to master and practice their Science Fundamentals.And if he's out there reading this, I hope he takes requests - because I've got dozens of teachers clamoring for Earth, Biological and Physics `Big Science' worksheets now!
